I have been recently diagnosed with having complex partial seizures. I have been experiencing them for the past 2.5 years. I am currently on medication and have had no results for the past 6 monthes. I am also experience increased memory problems, false memories, and increased depression and anxiety. Is this familiar to anyone and can anyone give me some advice? Thanks so much for your time.

Oh yes, I have the same symtoms........You didn't mention which medication your on...I have been on most of all the meds...They all have side effects, you should check out to see which one best works for you...The bad memory drives me crazy, I forget things, I even forget what i'm talking about sometimes...I can't remember people's names..Before I started having seizures I had an excellent memory..Do you drive and work, do you still have the seizures even though you're on this med??

Thanks For Replying
I am currently on lamictal, but it is not working, I still have about 2 a week. This is driving me crazy. I am currently a full time college student, and I do drive to school and to work. Do you drive? Let me ask you, do you experience the "false" memories that I was taking about. I have complex partial seizures and experience deja vu and the aura. However, daily I have this constant feeling as if I have seen a particular movie when I have not, or I am doing something that I have done before even when I am not, at that particularly moment, having a seizure. I am driving myself mad.
What type of seizures do you have? How long have you had them?
Once again thanks for replying.

Seizures....
I am taking neurontin, 1200mg a day, currently, but I have taken most all the other drugs and I had terrible side effects, never the med you're taking though...What are some of your side effects? I started out with a gran mal seizure when I was giving birth to my daughter 10yrs ago and then was having petit mal seizures and now I get a couple of different seizures...1 of them I start shivering, teeth chatter and I go into a stare, this one I started recently...I have a bad memory too and I have the aura right before a seizure and sometimes I try to stop it...Yes, I usually feel it coming...Do you?..................Take care Smile

Hi
The usual side effects of lamictal are a severe rash.. However, I have not experienced it. The other side effects, I do not know enough about. What are your auras like. Mine are wild and almost "out of body". Its like I am dreaming while I am awake. It is the most unexplainable thing I have ever experienced. Anyway, it has been really grate being able to talk to someone who experiences this. Why do your doctors think that you started after child birth? I have never heard of that.
Well have a great day!

Hi bb, that is the perfect way to describe the aura right before you seiz, going into a dream mode or I feel like i'm leaving my body...It's real scarey and hard to explain, but I always come out of it sick to my stomach...I suppose loss of memory and depression come along with this disorder and is it the side effects from the meds? What happened with me is that I was in labor giving birth to my daughter screaming for help when the doctor said my blood pressure went real high and I then had a "gran mal" seizure and that was the beginning of it...Do you know why you started having seizures? Ss

I have no idea what causes mine. I also get sick to my stomach right after, and have even thrown up follwing one. I have become so frustrated. How often do you have them. I have them close to 3 times a week. This is incredibly frustrating. I even had one monday while I was running in my gym. I felt like I was going to pass out, but didnt.
I have got to go to class now. Have a great weekend.

Hi bb, it really depends how often it happens....I could go sometimes a couple of weeks without one and than have 1 after another....I've figured out that stress brings thems on and skipping meals, I can't let myself get too hungry, otherwise it will happen.......Staying on 1 med for too long isn't good for me other.........Doctors always ask me if I had a bad head injury when I was younger as if that is what's causing them.........Try changing your meds............Have a good seizure free week, o.K.?......And if you need me write, susan
