About 10 years ago I had a misalignment of my top and bottom teeth. The top where closer together than the bottom and they said I needed braces because it was affecting my bite. Well I had this all my life so at about age 19 I started to get this thick mucus-like saliva above my top teeth on my gum. It was very annoying and it would accumulate on my teeth and on the edge of the inside of my mouth. So I had the braces (not because of the saliva) and it went away. It was so awesome, I had been putting up with this for a year and a half and no one had ever heard of it or what to do. Well about 3 weeks ago I noticed I started getting it again, and it has not stopped. I nipped it the bud and went to a ear nose and throat doctor, since a dentist couldn't help me out and your mouth and sinuses relate so much. He told me that he had never seen this before and to try sea salt and water for a mouth rinse. It helped , for about 10 minutes. So I tried hydrogen peroxide and biotene and I had the same thing. I keep my mouth very clean. My mouth secretes this mucus, so you can wipe and clean and I get the same thing, it comes back as soon as I wipe it off. The feeling drives me crazy! It's like having this thick goo that just secretes and secretes and secretes and secretes. So I called the doctor and I suggested and he gave me a prescription for something that is supposed to dry out your mouth and he prescribed robinul, and it barely works anymore. The only relief I get is when I take something that gives me buzz, but having to do that everyday is just going to make me build up a tolerance ( which I do very quickly when it comes to medicine) and it's not good to stay constantly buzzed. So there is nothing I can do but wipe it off with my tounge or suck it through or wipe it off. It's just constant constant costant, I can't even try to take my mind off of it, except when i'm buzzed. It's caused me so much anxiety when I think about how I can do almost nothing, I get so anxious I start crying and almost hyperventilating. Have any of you all ever heard of this before?!

Thick Mucus Saliva
hello there! I noticed a message that you posted several years ago.
I have been suffering from exactly the same thing. I've been to 3 dentists who think I'm crazy. Did you ever find anything that worked? It is so discouraging!
