Any ideas on how to get my friend to be more understanding of my problem? First of all, when she asks me to go out to eat with her, all I can do is thank her for the invitation but if I don't really think that I can be around food that day, I must say so or deal with enormous guilt later. But if I say that, she says that everybody else should not starve just b/c I don't want to eat.
Morever, if it were so easy to "just eat," there would be no such thing as an eating disorder. Is it typical for someone who is supposed to be a friend to be so unsympathetic? Also, isn't my shrink being judgmental when he says things like "your metabolism must be very slow."?
