I have always seen the world in rapidly moving colored dots. For instance although I may percieve a wall painted orange,i also see it as made up of yellow, light green, white, red etc spots that vibrate or move. The dots are of identical size. Different colors are made up of differing arrangements of color. I am 41 and have only met one other person who sees this way(a woman from switzerland 15 years ago in india).I stopped talking about it and visiting doctors shortly after meeting her...I was so relieved to find someone else who saw the same way...But yesterday I heard my sons age 5 and 6 disscussing it with each other...My 5 year old wanting to know if the dots were alive! The same thing I wondered at around the same age ! Like me they were playing with the colors (something I don't do anymore...Hard to explain).I nearly fell over with shock! And now I am desperate to know if other people do or who understand this condition .I can not find anything on the net. I have never found a doctor who understands what I am talking about.

Colored Dots in Vision
My son is 5 yrs old. He just told me a couple of weeks ago that he sees colored dots. He said that they moved and he zigged zagged his hand back in forth to explain the motion. Does this sound similar to any of you. My mother-in-law said she found info about this on the web and that the condition is not life threatening. I have to find out where she found this out.

my entire vision is literally made up of millions upon millions of tiny coloured dots. is this the same thing? they are worst in the dark, or when looking at bright white objects. Its a bit mental to be honest, I'm 21, and only really started to notice it a year or so ago.

i think everyone see dots on blank sufaces only people liken us tend to think about them too much. Distract yourself and that should work. When wake up in the morning the dots seem to be bigger but get smaller in a matter of minutes.

This couldn't be more true people are analyzing themselves if you don't concentrate and drive yourself crazy with it it will go away or u won't notice it people always think theirs something wrong with them when 90% of the time its in there heads probably because of the media but anyways i know what you people are talking about if i concentrate i can see them as well but i can control it some of you may have weak minds so i just recommend ignoring it.

Colored Dots
My son started to see colored dots about a month ago! He says it is worse on a white wall and in the dark. I took him to the opthamologist and he has perfect vision. He cries all of the time because he wants "them" to go away. PLEASE tell me what this is? Is there anything I can do?

Seeing colored spots - seeing is believing
One of my earliest memories as a child is seeing those colored dots swarm across my field of vision and wondering what they were. I will be 49 yo in a couple of weeks and I've been able to see them my throughout my life. I usually only see them when my eyes are closed, but last night I woke up out of a deep sleep and looked around the bedroom and noticed how prominent the dots were. I don't think a lot of us experience this - either because it doesn't happen to most people or because most people just don't notice it. When you explain it to someone who isn't familiar with it, they usually think you're talking about "floaters". I have floaters, too, so I know the difference. I sometimes experience "visual snow" too, so I know they are different (I usually only see the snow when I'm looking at a bright uniform computer display or something similar). Coincidental to my personal visual anomalies, I have obtained a degree and a 25 year career in imaging science. I mention this only because it allows me to articulate in imaging terms what I experience. The dots seem to be mostly in the primary colors: red or green or blue, but I also see some yellow ones (the compliment of blue). They are random and uniformly distributed. The move in a current (some say "swarm") mainly from left to right and top to bottom but I believe that's because they move in the direction that my eyes move when I try to track them and I tend to move my eyes in the directions as reading a page of print. I have seen no professional acknowledgement of this phenomenon and, therefore, no definitive answers on it's cause. My theory is that it is the visual equivalent of tinitus - ringing in the ears (which I also have and find much more annoying). Just as these sounds are comprised of various discrete frequencies thoughout the auditory spectrum, the spots are comprised of colors distributed thoughout the color spectrum, although the colors are sampled much more coarsely. This leads me to believe there is correlation between the color of the dots and the primary sensitivities of the cones which are sensitive to either red or green or blue light. There is a lot of overlap between the spectral sensitivities of the red and green cones and this may explain the appearance of the yellow dots. I also believe there is a good possibility that this phenomenon manifests entirely within the visual cortex of the brain rather than in the eye, on the retina or the optic nerve. There is a lot more knowledge and information available regarding tinitus and I think many of those mechanisms are similar to the colored dots some of us see. If you're an information junkie like me, you may want to read up on that topic. In the mean time, relax and enjoy your "special gift".

vision made up of tiny spots
My entire life everything I see is made up of small colored dots. I thought everyone saw things like this, imagine my surprise when they didnt (I am 58 yrs old) It is difficult to see stars at night unless I dont look directly at them, because of all the small colored dots....the only way to explain this to one who has never experienced it is to look closely at a comic book and you will see the colors are actually little dots...
Years ago I was reading a medical column in the paper and they discribed this perfectly...it is a medical condition and has a name but I dont remember it. Not life threatening or threatening at all...Ive become so used to it I dont even notice unless I think about it

I definately have this too, and I also describe is as visual snow or pixelation. I only looked it up now as I have a cold which has exagerrated what I have all the time. It's very hard to shut it out with a cold or headache, but it's actually been present all my life. I imagine it to be that all those here are able to pick up electrical activity on the retina. I am also red \ green colour blind. Any one else?

Do anyone one of you see, what appears to be, a spinning atom? As well as having the same thing all of you have been discussing, I aswell cannot stare at something without this atom-like figure forming and the longer I keep staring, it seems as if it gets closer. The rings around it actually move too, its so mind blowing but after 11 years you get used to it and it becomes an everday thing, which it shouldn't cuz ..lets be honest..it's something you're SEEING in which is not normal. It's like telling your parents you see,for example, spirits and them giving you possible medical excuses...like no! I want LEGIT research done on someone who see's what I see! Oh and just so you all know what I'm seeing exactly I provided a link to a google image I searched. I believe its either this (which would be weird) or something SO VERY similar to this. Link: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=atom&um=1&h l=en&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=673&tbm=isch&tbnid= djuLV10WfVrcIM:&imgrefurl=http://nebulousz one.com/earthsci-l3/unit-3-atoms-matter/&d ocid=7TdkmXt9HWruuM&w=320&h=320&ei=nteTTsV C6crQAYvivbEH&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=347&vpy=3 17&dur=7365&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=112&ty=85 &page=1&tbnh=137&tbnw=116&start=0&ndsp=21& ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0. I'm now 16, and I believe I was the 2nd to reply on this page as "Life Shadows"; All I'm getting from all of you is even MORE curiosity on what the hell I have -__- Although, dont get me wrong, finding out Im not alone in this is awesome Smile I mentioned this to my eye doctor and his theory is "floaters" and I do have floaters but that's not what I'm seeing! I feel as if all of us are just going to die not knowing what the hell we saw through our eyes our whole life. And that just doesnt seem fair. Many unanwsered questions. With the kind of "advanced science" we have today, WE DESERVE SOME ANSWERS! -.-

How can nobody know what this is?
Im 23 and have seen the. Colored pixels sense I was a kid too . Thought everyone saw it but didn't notice but when I describe it . People act like I'm nuts. I was board n googled it. I watched the visual snow simulators . Not even close. So the. I started to trip a little. If someone knows what it is let me know. I am a spiritual person and some ppl say it's my pineal gland or third eye seeing energy. I can dig that but why to I have It and can I use it?

I agree with btp99 who replied on December 21st. I have the same issue, which I have had since my mid teens and triggered by a pill of MDMA. The damage caused by the MDMA evidently affected the visual cortex of the brain. I also believe this issue is the visual equivalent of tinnitus, which I also have. If I close one eye in the dark, I see what might be describe as thousands of small snow crystals moving very rapidly on a black wavy surface. Poor light makes images appear in negative for a while after I look away from the object. I also went to the eye specialist about this and they could not see anything. So in terms of health effects, I think it is completely benign. I suspect it is not a particularly common issue, but once you get used to it, (or get through the depression that you've permanently damaged your perfectly good eyesight yourself, which takes a good while) it gradually subsides into becoming more of a mild irritation. The atom thing I also see from time to time. You may not be far off with the seeing energy comment either, but unfortunately our knowledge about that realm is still pretty limited.

weird dot colours
i'm 26 and i have this too. also sometimes i see the dots making some kind of an aura-like layer around someone's head or body, sometimes even on objects.
it's been like this since i can remember and it's good to know i'm not the only one seeing those pixels. the weirdest thing is how you can see all shapes and colors and be able to make difference among them even though they are all made of millions of colors and sparks, basically same in pattern.
I can't say for sure if it has got anything to do with the pineal gland or maybe it's sort of a sneak-peek to the astral world... anyhow, it doesn't seem to be telling me anything in particular, they are just there, vibrating and spinning.
i was never able to explain this to anyone, i guess it would be too hard to explain it due to it's kind of duality-based nature, it's both there and not there. so eventually i stopped trying. i may have started thinking i was crazy or something. my girlfriend was the only one who i told all this and who understands.
If you find out more, please post. reading through your experiences is both comforting in a way and very intriguing. thank you, keep posting, we'll get to the bottom of this some day. love and peace!

The Dots
I too have the same thing, I believe, although I don't so much see them as different colours they all seem white, but yet I can tell what colour something is even though it is covered in white dots, but they tend to blend into whatever colour the object is. I've seen this way since I was a kid and never talked about it because I thought everyone saw this way then I learned what atoms where in school and was relieved to think that was what I was seeing as there where too many to count, as well as they're too small, and they all vibrate and they make up everything. Imagine my mom's reaction when I came home and told her that I saw atoms. Now I've talked about it with a few of my close friends who thankfully don't assume I'm crazy. Of course mine still seems different than most of you because of the colour issue, but I honestly still think sometimes they are atoms, even though I know that apparently they can't be seen with the human eye. I would love for someone to figure this out. But although they can be annoying when I focus on them, they do actually help me to see better in the dark. Because of the way they cluster around corners I don't walk into corners or objects when it is pitch black. Good Luck to everyone!
