Q: I'm Going to Name My Daughter Fred!

No, not really. But it's getting to that point where i'm so sick of names that I could name her fred and tell everyone to eat me. I'm 6 months pregnant, this is my second, it's a girl and I already have a boy. When I was pregnant with him, I had the name caleb the entire time along with a ton of awesome boy names but no names for a girl...Good thing he was a he! I want something different, but old fashioned. I love the name evlen. Probaly would just call her evy. Thing is that everybody hates it! I'm getting some rude comments that kinda hurt my feelings. I am in an emotional state you know! The middle name is frances for sure, my grandmas middle name and she just died but was really excited about this pregnancy! Can anyone think of a name thats like that, old fashioned but not "edna" old fashioned? Is it just me or is it harder to find girls names than boys?

Thanks! The boyfriends not exactly agreeable with anything I suggest, but he has none of his own! But does anyone fit better than another cause we all have pretty different names. My boyfriends name is cavan, mines devon and my son is caleb. Maybe I should stick with 5 letters...Is that cheesy? I also like lola, but I won't use it cause of the song (lola is a lady who turns out to be a man!) plus I want to save it if I get a dog! Is it presumtious of me to give her my middle name, katrina?

Evelynn is a beautiful old fashioned name. Who cares if everyone hates it? Is it their child? Nope, its yours. Buck up hun, thats one of the joys of parenthood, you get the first and last say in things concerning your child.

That's the best part! But i've always been different. I like things that are different and unique, I hate things that are main stream and too popular. But I think the babys dad is being swayed by these comments. I almost had him agreeing and some friends he told the name to said that kids would make fun of her. (no matter what a kid does they will be teased at some point, I think it makes them better people in the end.) it seems weird though, cause when people shoot the name down I get really mad! Maybe just a hormone thing? Our agreement now is that we will find the name and not tell anyone til she is born and named.

That is beautiful! I love that name but dh hates it.. He is very picky on baby names.. Thatt's why as soon as we started trying I made him sit down and pick out names.. I don't want to be 40 wks and have to pull something like billy bob out of thin air.. Lol.. Best wishes to you.. Cool

I really like the name emma. It's sort of an old fashioned name but not too old fashioned to be out of date. And I think it goes with the middle name you have picked out.. Emma frances... But then thats just my opinion. Hope you find the name you're looking for. Good luck.

If you want an old-fashioned name, then look in records which can be easily accessed online to see what the most popular baby names were for each decade
