Constant Sore Throat Posted: 05-17-05 20:48pm
Jendawnrogersaid:
"does anyone have any
suggestions for treatments?"
hi , you made have already read my posts
beforehand ( moad ) but if you haven't
then have a look at them. You do sound
very similar to my problem, I am not
saying it is the same but it sure sounds
like it. In my posts there maybe other
things that ring a bell to you when you
read them, let me know if some of my
things sound the same as you. You will
also see things I have tried to relive the
pain, "mallow tea" has been about the most
effective. The problem I have with the
throat seems to stem fro chronic fatigued
syndrome", this is not "chronic fatigued"
where you feel tied all the time although
there is tiredness involved. Cfs is a
combination of many problems that can
effect the body either singularly or a
number at a time. Maybe you should read
up on it and see if things sound familiar
and if they do find a doctor who knows and
understands this condition. Mine started
with a motor cycle accident 16 years ago,
cfs usual starts with some sort of trauma
to the body.
Hope this helps.

This Is Crazy Posted: 08-08-05 00:27am
I have had a feeling in my throat like
something is there and mild sore throat
pain that seems to come and go. The
feeling is in the back of my throat, just
behind my uvula and seems like it is more
on the left side. This all started about
3 1/2 months ago.
I must explain that before this started I
had some other things go on inside my
mouth as well.
First I had an open sore on the left
lateral side of my tongue appear. I had
it biopsied by an oral surgeon and the
result was negative. Shortly after that a
growth was noticed further back on the
left side of my tounge. This was more
like a growth of tissue. I was then sent
to an ent who removed it on april 15 and
that biopsy came back negative. Through
all this I did not sleep good at all and
was constinly stressed out.
The feeling in my throat started about two
weeks after that biopsy was done.
I went back to the same ent and explained
this to him and he thought I was crazy, he
scoped me twice after that and said he did
not see anything there on both times. I
went back to my gp that sent me for a ct
scan which came back normal. He then sent
me on my way for a second opinion from
another ent. The second ent said that my
left lingual tonsil was enlarged and had a
whiteish coating on it and also some mild
redness in my throat but that everything
was within normal ranges. After
expressing concern this ent said he would
biopsy the area to releave my stress so I
made the appointment to have this done.
My wife was nervouse about me being put
under again and wanted me to get another
opinion. So I made an appointment with a
third ent which scoped me and he told me
that my left lingual tonsil was enlarged
and rubbing on my hypopharynx and that was
what was causing this sensation. He said
if it did not go away he would consider a
biopsy.
It was at this point I called memorial
sloan kettering and made an appointment
with a doctor singh to get a opionion from
a cancer specialist. He soped me and
actually took some pictures. His report
said something about tonsiliths more
prominent on the left side. He told me
that I did not need to have a biopsy and
went as far to say not to go back to the
ent who suggested this. He told me it
appeared to be possiby allergy related.
His reports stated that if the symptoms
did not go away within a reasonable time
to return. I dont know what he considers
a reasonable time?
A few weeks ago I went back to the ent
that I saw before I went to sloan
kettering and he sent me for a barium
swallow test. The results were fairly
normal. No growths or anything like that
but it said possible enlargment of the
palatine tonsils. This test also stated
that I had moderate acid reflux. This ent
then told me that he believes my globus
sensation is from acid reflux and told me
to go back to my gp and to go and see a gi
doctor. I have had some relux in the past
but nothing to bad and have not had the
feeling of reflux within the last few
monthts either.
I was put on prevacid and have not gone
back to my gp yet as I am changng
insurance. The prevacid does not seem to
be doing anything. Though I have not
taken it fathfully either.
Were should I go from here? If there was
something there would they had found it by
know? Does my symptoms sound anything
like what you experienced?

"does my symptoms sound anything like what
you experienced?"
maxiom, if I was the one you were
referring to as far as my experience went
then the answer is yes, your experiences
are virtually the same as mine. I don't
know if you have gone over the earlier
posts I have made, if you haven't I would
suggest you do as it might relieve your
anxiety a bit, or at least I hope it will.
When you read them you will notice that
the things you have been through are so
much like mine its amazing. Like you I
went to at least three ent's, more because
I wanted to make sure they hadn't missed
anything and also to relive my anxiety.
What I found interesting with your post
was that you started to experience these
symptoms after you had some mouth trauma,
which, as far as I can pin down is when
mine started after some teeth extractions.
Now I am not saying that is the cause for
either yours or mine but it is possible.
As I have said in my posts before one of
the symptoms of cfs is chronic sore throat
so that also could be what has triggered
yours. The bad news is I can not give you
an idea of when it will stop. I have had
mine for two and a half years and the only
brake I have had from the pain was about
six months, it did not completely go but
it did die down a whole heap.
Yes, I think you have done all you can do
to see if it was anything more serious
like cancer. I had to come to a point
where I weighed up the odds. I saw three
very good ent's, four very good gp's and
an oral surgeon, everyone of them bar none
said there is no sigh of anything serious
like cancer, at that point I had to just
take it as it comes for my own sanity. I
am sure you know what I mean.
If you want to ask me anything else I am
more than happy to answer what I can.
All the best

Can Someone Plz Help??? Posted: 09-06-06 19:50pm
Well, i'm new to this site, i've never
really ever done anything like this
before, but I am desperate for an answer!
For the past 12 years, which, is half my
lifetime really, i've been suffering from
chronic sore throat, excessive, choking,
phlegm, and dizziness and fatigue. I
have one allergist, 2 ents, 3 family
doctors, and my thyroid doctor that I see
more than twice a week yet I still have no
answer for my sicknesses. It seems that
I get sick 5 times a month and have tried
everything from zyrtec d, claritin,
allegra, benadryl, clarinex, singulair,
flonase, nasonex, nasacort, astelin, and
almost every allergy and i'm currently on
thyroid meds and nothing has helped. Ive
taken so many antibiotics from biaxin to
penicilin shots that my doctors refuse to
prescribe me anymore cuz they're afraid
that my body will some day soon become
immune to all of them. I've had sinus
xrays and ear xrays tests, done and they
just conclude that its my allergies.
This has affected my life in the worst way
because i'm constantly missing classes and
even my new job now, over the counter meds
don't work but make my phlegm worse! My
doctor said that it could be acid reflux
but she can't be sure, plus I also get
really bad breath! Can someone plz help
me, i'd really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

consider having them removed within the
next month... meanwhile i keep having this
bad throat however it just irritates and i
cough alot.... perhaps its due to the late
nights and the drinking... well i guess
that will just have to go til my tonsils
are removed and myself gets checked up huh

by the way....................................... Posted: 03-26-08 10:32am
antibotics does not help unless its a
bacterial infection if it were viral it is
absolutely pointless !
