Q: On My Way to Partial Hyst. Need Info

I am having a partial hyst. She is only taking out my uterus. Im doing this because of heavy periods, painful sex sometimes, some fibriods and hot flashes with sweats. I do not have to have this procedure but I am deciding to do this to get it over with. But I have 2 questions. First of all I am very sexual and have very deep orgasms I can feel the contractions of them very strongly and so can my husband. From what I understand if your uterus is out you can not have these type of orgasms. Is this correct? This is very important to me.
My second question: I weigh about 108 and have always been small, I have 2 kids, i'm 31. I came out unscathed after having my kids, you cant tell I have had any. My question is..Is it typical to gain weight and how much? I wont be taking hormones. What surgerys I have had in the past I have bounced back pretty quickly.

I had a supracervical hysterectomy back in august. Are you keeping your cervix? Having your cervix removed can result in slight vaginal shortening. You should discuss keeping it with your doctor.

You will lose the uterine contractions you experience during orgasm, but will still have the strong vaginal contractions. I've noticed that my orgasms have not changed (they will be different for the first few months post-op, don't be alarmed, a lot of nerves and blood vessels need to knit back together).

I'm 38 and weigh 135 pounds. I've weighed about this much for the past 15 years. I lost a little right after surgery but am back at 135 and have resumed my exercise regemine and have noticed no difference with my metabolism. I belive the big difference is for women who have their ovaries taken out. Losing your ovaries pre-menopause can wreak havoc on your metabolism.

For more info and online support through the preop and post op, you might want to check out hystersisters.Com.

Take care.

Partial Hysterectomy
Hi I had a partial hysterectomy I guess thats what they call it when you keep your ovaries. I had everything else removed. It's 8 weeks later now and when I had sex for the first time after it was better than before I had it. But I suffer from endometreosis so anything would be better than pain. I lost weight since having it done also. About 10 pounds. Ive had a variety of side effects afterward but it was worth it . I'm 24 so I bounced back pretty fast and feel much better. I hope all goes well with yours.
