If a woman has herpes more than likely her sexual partner has them too if no condom was used. As for having a child I know its possible to spread to the baby but im not sure if the sores have to be present during delivery in order to contract them, I know you can find resources on the internet about this go to google.Com and search for it.

Hello, yes if you have had unprotected sex with your partner, they will have herpes.

Risk factors for infant herpes simplex infections
the risk of transmitting the herpes simplex virus to a baby depends on several factors:

whether the mother has antibodies to the herpes simplex virus
whether the infant has time to acquire these antibodies before delivery
exposure of the infant to herpes lesions during delivery
transmission rates for infant herpes simplex infections
a woman who experiences a first outbreak of genital herpes during the third trimester and who has not developed antibodies to the virus by the onset of labor has a 33% chance of transmitting the virus to her infant. On the other hand, a woman who experiences a recurrent outbreak of genital herpes, because she already has antibodies to the herpes virus and has passed them to her unborn child, has a 3% chance of transmitting the virus to her infant.

Me Again
I am actually wondering for my daughter. She is only 25 and she just found out she has genital herpes and her biggest fear now is having a child. I'm not in the room with her while she's with a guy but she does use condoms and I was researching genitals herpes yesturday and it can simply be transmitted by skin if their is a current outbreak and even if the person is wearing a condom. It does say on the condom box... Does not protect from all std's. So before she even used condoms she should have had her partner tested. I don't think people understand how important it really is to get tested.

Yes yes yes it is always important to get tested especially if a person switches sexual partners, even if they are planning to use condoms well for me anyway I have trouble trusting men so I made em all get tested! But even so if you have the same sexual partner its still best to get it done at least once a year cause you never know if he is cheatin on you or what not!
