I am 19 and ive had varicocele since I was around 15. I was wondering if anyone knew any treatment besides surgery or embolization. Ive heard about wearing scrotum support like tighter underwear but I dont know if this is true. Sometimes when im bored I would squeeze of the bag and deflate it.. Should I be doing this?? Any information can help! Thanks!

Yes tighter support can help. Is it just the left testicle or both? In about 85% cases it appears in only the left. If your dr has recommended surgery it is probably not going to be helped by wearing tighter support as it is too severe. But then again he may be over-reacting.

Dude, don't squeeze it. It's veins after all and you can do other damage such as inhibiting blood flow.

Besides surgery there is embolization which basically reduces pressure in the veins thus reduces size. Laparoscopy is a less invasive option to surgery but as with surgery it also has possible complications.

Varicocele can cause infertility so it probably best to get sorted out sooner rather than later.

Good luck.

Yeah its on the left side and its about the size of a nickel probably. Do you know if it can naturally fix itself? I always thought that squeezing it would help for some dumb reason haha...Thanks a lot!!!!!!

Generally no, they won't go away by themselves.

Although uncommon, if you squeeze it you can send the blood in the wrong direction through the vein which can cause other complications. Basically a varicocele is caused by a defective valve that doesn't allow the flow of blood from the testicle to the abdomen and instead just 'pools' up in the vein hence the lump.

If it is causing any discomfort or there is a considerable difference in the size of the testicles then you should probably think seriously about surgery.

Does this cause your left testicle to just die or something because of no blood circulation? I havent been squeezing it and it has gotten much better.. Like it shrunk and isnt as big anymore and there is no pain.
