Hahaha, no.. Jen, I doubt that they have. But I bet we'd be the group of people to feel closest to it. Maybe if you make and eat ONLY your fail-safe meals the night before and what not. Also, I'm not sure if you get this where you are, but there is this Tea brand called Yogi, and they make one called Stomach Ease. It has things like Chamomile and Fennel (which I hear so much about), etc. And I make it and bring it with me whenever I go somewhere that I feel I might be stressed!

We're all wishing you good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine, it will be the worrying that will be the worst!

hey how is everyone doing.
im not really trying anything at the moment just sticking to my regular helthy diet as much aqs possible which makes thr noises SLIGHTLY better... but nowhere near gone. im also trying not to eat really big meals and trying to eat slower as this gives me a really bad sotmach. ive been continuing with research and everyone suggests so many different things and there are so many different opinions out there.but i think the only thing thats going to work for me i following the candida diet as closely possible and alternating through lotd of different candida/colon/parasite cleanses and caprylic acid etc along with taking probiotics, digestive enzymes, fibre and a good multi vit.
ive tried many things and read about people trying all sorts of stuff but the only thing people seem to have real, long term sucess with is this combination of diet and medications.
i think these days most people must have at least some degree of candida problem becasue of the poor diet and use of antibiotics that is so common... even if they dont notice it.
my problem is that im taking iron to treat anemia and im worried that cleanses and stuff will flush out all the iron..
so im probably going to wait a few months..
is anyone having sucess with anything at the moment?

Thanks for your support coheed-you're right about the worrying it's almost as bad as the noises themselves, can't help myself though, im the kind of person who worries if they're not worrying! Having fish for my tea tonight and will probably spend a good portion of tomorrow on the toilet, trying to have a good clear-out before the event!

Hi helpwanted, good to hear from you. I'm just sticking with the healthy eating and meditation. The med my doctor prescribed me just gave me belly ache so i've given up on that and probiotics seem to make things worse for me so unfortunately i haven't got any exciting news to report!

Well, Good Luck Jen! I hope it all goes well Smile

Helpwanted, I've been sticking to my healthy diet as well. I'm researching right now what just exactly that is.. But, I do mostly eat fish, salads, vegetables, things like that. I'm taking probiotics as well and digestive enzymes. I use Paragone, also. So.. I agree. I think a change in diet and patience is going to be the key. What kind of things do you eat?

coheed, im not doing the candida diet at the moment, im just eating healthily... having 5 fruit and veg a day, drinking lots of water, having salads, fish, grlled meat... just tryin to limit bad foods like chocoltate, chips etc nbut i havnt cut them out completely, i let myself have treats at the weekend.
ive found that nuts work well for me when my sotmach starts making noises due to hunger, particulalry brazil nuts, they can help slow down the noises for a little while, i heard nuts have a chemical in them wich makes your bodu think theres a lot of food in the stomach.
have you had much luck with the paragone? ive given up with the digestive enzymes and probiotics for the moment, i just didnt know what was helping and what was making me worse anymore

Hello All,
I have improved quite a bit by doing the following.
Eliminating drinking coffee and all carbonated drinks,I take digestive enzymes before breakfast and dinner,I take dgl extract after eating(it
is supposed to coat and protect the stomach lining) I also take mylanta for acid and gas. One day I decided to take two immodium a-d before a
meeting I had to attend and it seemed to relax my stomach very well.
I also find that drinking peppermint tea is very beneficial.
I don,t know which is helping me most but I feel
that possibly all are doing something good.I would like to get some feedback. Please keep in mind that this is not a thing I do every day but only those days when I will be in a quiet room.
Good Luck to everyone

Helpwanted, I feel that the Paragone just helps me. I think ultimately it's going to be a change in diet, but I deffinitely notice a beneficial difference when I use it. I know how you feel with the enzymes... but I stick with them anyway just because i'm not sure how I would be withOUT them. Kind of a mental thing possibly. When I lay down.. it isn't that the noises are worse, I can just FEEL them more. I lay down and stretch sometimes and then try and like wiggle the noises away if I feel that they are there. Although, a lot of times when I wake up in the morning the noises are there and especially that wierd vibration rumble like in my colon area. But, they usually go away once I get up and start moving around and such.

Les noisy.. I haven't tried much of the antacids and such ... what are the immodiums for? I know I've heard of them but I cant keep track of everything. I think most of us are trying to find something that helps us for EVERY day as well Sad unfortunately. How long have you had this problem for?

coheed, i think ill try the digestive enzyes again, im just taking so much at the moment and i have no energy to make myself take it all, ita a horrible circle.
i dont understand why they are worse when laid down, also sometimes if i bedn over or lean forward i get a loud stomach noise ast that time.... like theres something physically there casuing it, its so strange. maybe its just the food and acid moving around?

wow...
I accidentally found this forum and after reading some of the posts...I had to join. I cannot believe that I am not alone with this problem. I have never been able to talk to anyone about it so even typing this makes me a bit nervous.

I try my best to avoid the quiet room settings for anything. Hard to believe that something so stupid as noises from your abdomen can run your life! I think about it so much no matter what the situation. Of course it seems to be worse for me the more I think about it and get stressed and tensed up over it.

Laying down seems to relax me a bit and it seems to get better. I find wearing extra clothes or a coat in these quiet settings can help shield some of the noise. Although I have found that nothing helps it completely. Even going to "clean-out" before going to a meeting or quiet place helps a bit but not completely.

I wish I was brave enough to talk to the doctor about it. Has anyone done that? I don't think I could ever find the nerve to do so. Like I said, just typing this is making me nervous. Now isn't that stupid?!?!?!

I feel as though it has such a control on my life....I dread being alone with my boyfriend to just hang out and watch a movie or work on web pages with him...I avoid taking extra training classes and seminars as much as I can even though I want the education. I will be 33 this month and I can remember this starting with me when I was in the 6th grade. So that would be about....22 years or so....OMG!!!
I suppose being a nervous and worry-wart doesn't help matters either.

Let me know your thoughts and what has helped you and I am so glad to have found this forum! It does help knowing there are others out there that have the same problems. I am sure I will be here most everyday reading!!

Oh my... 22 years is a long time, Kp. But, I would say it's a safe idea to talk to a doctor. A LOT of people in this forum have had to talk to even more than one. I've talked to one myself (though not a GI specialist). It seems... that most are just throwing out generic explanations (aka, things like IBS which are literally "undiagnosed" symptoms). Most people tell us it is ALL stress and in our heads etc. Maybe if you spoke to one though you could have that jem of success that we haven't found.

What is your diet like?

Jen, I'm happy for you! Haha, how is your stomach doing lately anyway? Oh, and funny that you mentioned that position for when you lay down... I forget where I read it, but that's an exact pose that they recommend for stomach / back problems, they say it has something to with aligning the body on the correct presser points. Maybe it has some credit to it.

Helpwanted, I know what you mean when you said you can feel them when you bend over like something is there. Can you feel it or make it happen if you apply pressure with your hands? I can literally squeeze air around in my intestines. And lately, they've been.. It's hard to explain, I can feel on both sides, mostly the left which is where I always feel it, they seem to like harden or feel like they are becoming distended, then all at once they just depressurize back. It's such a strange feeling, but I can feel them through my skin. I feel like it has to be some sort of trapped air or, maybe you said acid. I'm not sure Where exactly I'm feeling it. I can squeeze air around in my stomach a lot too. Oh, and this hasn't happened to me in a LONG time, except for last night. I'll feel okay.. relatively.. not too unsettled, but it will start to hurt to breathe, almost like a dull pain all around my enTIRE abdomen, even up to my lungs. And I can feel the difference when I breathe in and out, the pain is in my stomach and sides. It usually goes away after several minutes... but I'm not sure what that is. Any ideas or similar experiences?

I really wish you all the best of luck, especially the new people on this forum. I would recommend going back and reading ALL the posts. I luckily found it when it was only on page 4 or 5.

Welcome kp! Im so pleased you found us, we're trying to find solutions to this problem but for me the best thing is having people to 'talk' to who REALLY understand what i go through every day. I get why you're nervous typing but you've really no need-you can get it all out here, we're all in the same boat. It's been a massive therapy for me. What kind of noises do you get? Where are they coming from? Is it all the time/after certain foods?

I was very nervous about talking to my doctor but i did it and i was so proud of myself. They will not laugh at you or make you feel stupid. The worst you should get is a dismissive response. Start chatting on here, you'll soon get use to talking about it and maybe one day you'll feel brave enough to talk to someone in 'real' life. Have you ever told anyone about this before?

A good starting point which i think we've all found a degree of improvement with is a healthy diet:water, porridge oats, salads, vegetables, chicken, FISH, bio-yoghurt: these have all helped me.

Coheed, i get every single syptom you've just described. When im lying in the bath, i massage my abdomen and i can feel harder areas (i think it's poo) then it moves and goes flat then there's pockets of what i think is gas that gurgle and 'pop' when i press them. Also, if i suck my stomach muscles in and out really quickly it makes noises, these are louder when im hungry.

The pain you describe up to your lungs is something i sometimes get too. I wouldn't say its 'pain' but more a massive pressure, For me, i get it when im very bloated. My whole abdomen distends and it feels like it pushes my ribcage.

My noises are the same but im feeling very happy at the moment, im coping. I went to a my nieces birthday party today and sat very comfortably for 3 hours. The room was far from silent so im sure i was getting some noise but i felt comfortable and relaxed and i often get noises you can hear over the tv etc so i obviously wasn't getting this. I didn't get that horrible vibrating in my bum-gonna fart-must hold it in-feeling. I really loved it, drank it all in, sitting comfortably with friends and loved ones, having a lovely time. People take this for granted all the time but having this problem has made me appreciate things so much more.

thats interesting about the lying down thing. coheed, at certian times my stomach can seem hollow and i can make noise when i push it, also sometimes if i strain on the loo this same type of noise happens. but this is only every now and then. and i cant physcially feel anything inside me if i push my stomach.

ive noticed lately how important it is for me to try and eat my food slowly and chew every mouthful for a long time, it seems to help with those loud noises you get when eating meals and your body seems to be fighting to digest it.

think i mite start on digestive enzymes and fibre again soon.

about the chest pain, i sometimes get that... ive only developed it in the past few months, i wasnt sure if it was due to this or other health problems that i have.

has anyone been to a natural doctor, homeopath, nutritionist, herbalist or anything like that... im thinking of trying it, i just dont want to get ripped off

and i forgot to say that this noise ( when i bend over, push my stomach, strain etc) comes from the lower left side of my stomach, its a different noise to hungry noises or digestive noises. what i mean is, like i can distinguish the noises. does anyone else find this? the noise my stomach makes when its hungry is different to that when i bend over, and differentr again to the noises after i eat ( which come with gas and needing the loo)

Also, i was thinking about trying to write myself out a 4 week diet to follow every month, so that i know what im going to be eating and can have it all prepared and dont get caught short and have to eat something i think may make my stomach worse. anyones suggestions on what to eat would be useful...

I go to the gym alot, and when I do sit-ups/stomach crunches, i literally get a loud POP from my lower left abdomen. This happens every single crunch. It's very peculiar.

As for the different sounding noises...

I get a few different ones.

The Low Groan which seems to come from the buttocks area. This one usually seems to occur when I have to pass gas but hold it in.

The high-pitched squeal seems to come when I'm digesting food that isn't going down well.

And I also get the "popping" sound. This one is the worst one, imo, because you can't really pretend its something else. It usually comes from my lower left abdomen. The other night my gf and I were laying in bed and the popping started...she said "what was that?" and I said "i dont know...the bed is crackling probably." I've kinda dwelled on her comment the past few days...it's very disheartening. She's usually pretty good about my stomach noises but that comment was made with a certain level of disgust.

ANYWAY, overall i'm ok. i've kinda come to the conclusion that unless there is some miracle cure for this, my life will never fully be what it could. I used to want to be a big-time lawyer/politician. Hah. not anymore. sad huh?

anyway, you guys are the best I can wish you guys continued luck in our search for answers to this ridiculous ailment.

Hi
Go on in there and give them all something to talk about..........fart like a mule, and belch like no tomorrow...............its all human nature. There is always some butt wipe that has to make acommment....The world has come to a point where being "socially acceptable and politically correct no longer gives a rats ass..................bodily functions occur...........make sure its something you can be proud of when it occurs! Pretty pathetic when a himan body has to make a noise on its own, and that person "has to make an excuse for it"....hell....like no one else has had to fart, belch or had a stomach to rumble................PLEASE............ Make me PROUD!

To answer your questions,I take mylanta with anti-gas which seems to help.I think
that a major cause of this noise is a acidic stomach plus gas.I know coffee is very acidic. When I don't drink it I am less prone to all the noise.Immodium is an over the counter anti diarrhea medicine. I just took it to try it out and it seemed to really quiet down all the rumblings and gurglings and other weird sounds that everyone can relate to.I am going to try it some more to see if it continues to do the job.
I have had this problem for over twenty years and am really starting to get a grip on it.This website has been abig help.I have talked to two doctors about this,One was a shrink and her response was whats the the big deal?needless to say she was no help.I also spoke to a gastroenteroligist and he did give me a rx for nulev which
is an antispasmotic which you can take upto four times a day. Some people might want to check that out after talking to their drs.I actually think the imodium helped
me more than the nulev. I will be taking the immodium more often to see if it coninues to help.I also know that this is related to stress also so I wonder if anybody out there has taken xanax or valium and had improvement.I have to go now my peppermint tea is boiling
Good luck everybody,
