Q: Is It Possible to be Pregnant?

I would like some clarification. I should have started my period a few days ago, and I haven't yet. I have had cramps like I usually do before start. Is it possible to have these cramps and be pregnant? Or do you think I am just worried and stressed causing my period to be a little late?

Dear libaroo,

worry will most certainly delay your period. You haven't mentioned any other factors as to the possibility of you being pregnant so it's a little hard to judge. Have you had unprotected sex ? Are you feeling early pregnancy symptoms such as tiredness, frequent urination, sore or tender breasts etc. ? All these factors would be helpful in deciding on whether or not you need to be more concerned and possibly needing to get a pregnancy test.

Regards,

Is It Possible?
I did have unprotected sex with my boyfriend a few weeks ago last time I saw him. I am off at college and he is at home. He usually pulls out, but I don't think we are careful enough after that because usually his ejaculation is still on me, just not in me. So I know it is possible for me to get pregnant that way, I just didn't expect it. We already talked about using protection in the future, but i'm afraid it is already too late! Should I wait a while before I get even more worried? I am going home next weekend the 17th, and I am scared to take a test without him there with me.

Oh yeah, I didn't answer those questions regarding tiredness and all. I can't tell if I am fatigued because I am always between fatigued and just worn out since I am in college and frequently don't sleep as much as I should. Also, I have had a cold lately and it wears me out more than usual. I felt breast tenderness for a few days, but thought it was from my period that should be coming. I haven't noticed any of those other symptoms. Thanks for you help and advice, I really appreciate this!

Dear liberoo,

the fact that you are always fatigued, and your not really suffering any of the other symptoms, it is really hard to judge whether you may be pregnant or not. There is definately a possiblilty though. I think the fact that you are currently due for your period and haven't got it yet, then that is probably enough reason for you to buy a home pregnancy test just to be on the safe side. A home test would give you a fairly accurate result at this time of the month. Even with arousal, you have probably noticed that cum still seeps from the tip of your partners penis even before ejaculation, so even without him ejaculating inside of you, you can still become pregnant. This is why the withdrawal method just doesn't work. If you are to remain sexually active with your partner you really need to think about some other form of contraception such as birth control pills, contraception patches etc. Your doctor would be happy to discuss birth control methods that would suit your needs. I wouldn't even rely on condoms for birth control, they don't always work properly either, but are better than nothing.

Good luck and take care,

I noticed you had mentioned that he pulls out, just because he doesnt orgasm doesnt mean he doesnt leak. Most men leak while theyre inside and the leakage is enough to impregnate someone!!

Everyone is right! Pulling out is not (caps) a method of birth control by any means. Hopefully if you dont want to get pregnant in the future you will use preotection. However enough of that! Smile those are definite symptoms of pregnancy but also symptoms of stress and worry. Take a pg test to ease your mind!
