Q: Sleep Extremes

Hi, am new to this site. Have had sleep problems for years, but never really serious, a few missed nights here and there. Recently I have had real problems with sleeping. I have gone for up to two days without sleep cos I cant get to sleep but also at times slept for up to 32 hours non-stop. Sleep pattern is non-existent and trying to go to sleep at a consistently regular time doesn’t work in the slightest. Haven’t felt like i've had enough sleep in months, even when I sleep for a very long time. Also sometimes sleep, (becoming more frequent) in a way where I am not really asleep, a bit like dozing but conscious of being asleep. Can actively wake myself up from this state, cos I have found that it makes me feel the worst after I have got up. Often I feel more awake after no sleep than if I have sleep. So far have tried herbal nytol which don’t work at all, but am a bit wary of trying other drugs. Currently napping is proving the best method of getting sleep but it leaves me constantly tired. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
