I had anxiety since I was in my twenties. I was on a medicine that helped me called doxepin. Its not a pregnancy safe medication so I had to go off of it and thought I would be ok just for those 9 months and then go back on it. Well, not long after I went off of it all came back. With my anxiety, its an allthe time thing. I feel nervous and have a really weird tense kind of feeling on the back of my neck and then I have the full blown attacks off and on for no apparent reason. I am seeing an ob/gyn and she put me on buspirone which so far isnt helping although I have only been on it for a week now and it can take up to 2 weeks to work completely. Anyway, we stopped trying to get pregnant for now until I (hopefully) get these anxiety symptoms under control. I was just wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me. Anxiety is such a horrible thing to live with. I actually get angry at "normal" people and then at myself for not being able to live a normal life. I feel like im going insane.

Well I am 8.5 months pregnant now and thru out my pregnancy I took xanax (which has some sort of risk; cleft palet or cleft lip). My doctor took me off of that and prozac and put me on lexapro about 2 months ago. If you are trying to have a baby, and struggling with anxiety I would consider asking your doctor about lexapro, it seems to stop the anxiety attacks, well for me it did. I also used to take buspurione before I was pregnant and that stuff made me sooo sick. I would get extreme attacks just from taking it. Either way, I would talk to your doctor about other meds that are pregnancy-safe. Btw, where in pa are you? Poconos here.
