Q: I Am Always Tired
asked by: Peach0027 on October 9th, 2003

No matter how much or little sleep I get at night I am always tired. I have been to the doctor and my iron count is low, but I do not understand why I am always so tired. I love being out with friends and family but I find myself exhausted after just a short period of time. I can fall asleep pretty much anywhere and I am very worried because I do not want this to start affecting my job. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be going on? Or how to boost my energy?

I think always being tired has a lot to do with your stress level, how you eat, and stuff like that, the low iron has a lot to do with it as well. I am not exactly a pro on the topic or anyhting, but I am alway tird as well. Have you ever been tested for mono. I had mono when I was in high school, it can be very serious if you have a bad case of it, your spleen can rupture or something like that if I remeber correctly. I was lucky and didn't have a very severe case of it, lasted about a 2-3 months. Maybe you should get tested for it! It is just soem blood work that tells you!

Hope you feel better!

Ok well for me to get my energy up, I get up, take a shower (to wake me up) get dressed and have the music on, make a good breakfast or a toast with orange juice. Orange juice is a great source for vitamins. And I go to work. Because I am always tired too. But I fight it. You should really have more orange juice. The one I have is langers orange juice plus. And it contains extra vitamin c, iron and zinc. To be a waker upper. Or maybe you are getting too much sleep. Thats just makes you more tired. I remember going out and getting 4 hours of sleep and I was so enregized! But get up with a shower and orange juice. It should help you a bit. Or get an energy drink.

I Am Always Tired
What other symptoms do you have? I felt the same way for years before finding out I have sleep apnea...I now use the ever so glamorous (huh!) c-pap machine...My whole life has changed...!!!! I feel soooooo much better and have so much more energy! The c-pap is really not so glam but it has made a new person outta me! I was referred to a pulmonary sleep clinic by my md. My opinion, he saved my life! Good luck! Gigglyfish

I am diagnosed with narcolepsy. When I was 5 my mother took me to the doctor for a sleep study and they said that I "grow out of it" all through school and my term in the navy I had a very hard time waking up and staying awake. I went to my doctor 2 years ago and asked to be referred to a sleep specialist for a sleep study. To make a long story short. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy and I am currently taking "provigil" befor I go to sleep so I can wake up in the morning. I've been on this med. Now for 2 years and it is the best thing I could've done. I wake up and stay awake throughout the day. It changed my life completely. I do strongly recommend that you have med insurance. A sleep study w/out insurance can cost up to $1500. And if you are diagnosed with nacolepsy, the provigil costs about $7 each. I currently take 2 a day. So without ins. It would be very expensive.
Good luck. I'd look into it soon, it helped me more than I even imagined.

Working hard has nothing to do with it. I have 3 jobs, school full time, I'm in a dance Troupe and have a significant other. I get a good amount of sleep most nights. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get I'm exhausted almost every day.
I have heard that melatonin works wonders.

i feel the same way! i have no idea what it is. i have a hrd time falling asleep and once i do i cantg wake up and no matter how much sleep or how little sleep i get i still feel tired. i was told it was my diet and caffeine and not enough physical activity so i started takeing vitamins and eating only healthy food such as fruit and vegetables and compleatly cutting out caffeine and getting alot of physical activity but there has been no change at all in how i feel. it started right after puberty.

Less Tired
I've been taking a time releasing B100 complex. Its been working wonders. If I forget to take it I notice the difference. I'll take it in the morning along with my allergy pill and Biotin1000 (hair, skin nails and metabolism).
I'd want to fall asleep at my desk. I may not be jumping around fully alert, but you know what? I can concentrate better, and I dont feel like a desk nap anymore.
I got everything at CVS, but I know you can get it at any grocery store, wal-mart, Target and I'm sure other places.
