I was diagnosed with graves disease almost 2 1/2 years ago and am finally getting the treatment I need. Has anyone else had any problems with doctors who didn't understand or know about the disease. Also, has any one had problems getting pregnant after any kind of thyroid treatment?

I am having a terrbile time since I swithced from an apo to a ppo. My general md will not refer me to a specialist, although I have already undergone rai (5 years ago) and was told that I would probably need it again down the road. After 2 years of stable tsh, it is now all over the board, and I have requested a specialist. My Dr. Wants to "give it 3-6 months" to see how I react to altered doses of synthroid. I am livid.

So, yes, other people share your frusteration. The hardest part is people not beleiving you, or labeling youa hypochondriac, or sensitive. Guaranteed, if they spent one week in our shoes, they'd have a whole new respect for people living with grave's disease.

Havent tried getting prenant yet. No answer for you there. Good luck!
