Anyone know how bad it is supposed to get? I am worried because since I work as a dishwasher in a restuarant... I'm always soaked and i'm really cold blooded as some would say.. I got the flu last year and it sucked.. So i'm wondering what i'm in for this year since the flu shot is so hard to get this year.

Hopefully it wont get too bad....

But a random thought....You know how you always hear parents say "dont go outside without a coat...You'll get pneumonia" or get sick? Well its not true! Tell me why being cold is gonna make you sick?

Because when your cold your body shivers. This triggers your body into trying to keep it warm and it stops focusing on your immune system. So if you have a bug in you and you go outside without a coat on your body will stop fighting the bug until your body is warm. Atleast that's what i've been told.

Not neccasarliy if you don't have the bug and you go outside and start shivering. Let's say a friend coufs on you or something they might have a bug that goes inside you and normally a soon as your body senses a bug it will start fighting it, but not if your body is keeping you warm. So in that sense until you are warm it can't start fighting it.

I was going to say the same thing about being cold not making you sick. I could be wrong, but from what my doctor's told me you have to already be sick to get sick from being cold if that makes sense.

I'm getting my flu shot on the 3rd.

Lauren,
i would say that you are right in the sense that you have to get a bug to get sick at all, but your chances of getting sick increase if you are cold. Does that make sense to ya? So your mother is always right and don't forget it! Wear your coat chica! Wink

Lol! That's funny! Just don't do it when it's freezing cold outside your hair will break after it freezes. Of course you live in texas right? Does it get that cold down there?

I think we're going to have a big winter this year. I hope it snows a lot so I won't have to go to work for like a week. That would be cool!
