Worrying About the Future... Posted: 10-16-04 18:23pm
I know I shouldnt be worrying so much
about the future but recently I cannot
help it. I have been with a wonderful man
now for 2 years. We are both 21 years
old. He has been diganosed late in
highschool as "bipolar with underlying
schizophrenia." or something along those
lines...This has never affected us at all,
he takes his meds and other than the
occasional bad temper everythings fine.
But he worries me when he talks about how
men can get much much worse in their mid
to late 20's. I want to marry this guy
one day and have kids with him....And he
talks about how scared he is to see people
only 5 years older than him go downhill in
a matter of weeks. I know hes terrified
about what might happen to him and theres
no telling what might happen. I know I
could marry this guy and have kids and
everything could stay the same, but I also
worry this might pass on to our kids, and
he might get worse after we build a life
together and be completely different. I
know this sounds horrible but in his words
hes seen and known people who "leave
their wife and kids and go completely
crazy in hospitals and out on the street"
I know I shouldnt be worrying so much but
after some of the things he says sometimes
its all I think about. Everything is
wonderful now but I wonder if I am just
goin to get hurt in the long run and im
just setting myself up for soemthing
horrible. I need help here, I try to be
strong for him and tell him ill never let
him down..But inside my mind is dying...I
need just a glimmer of hope that things
may be normal...Help..

How about offering a few wonderful years
to this man that didn't hide
anything from you and what will happen to
him. You don't have to
have kids (which may set them up for
future problems - because the
faulty gene is related to an abnormal
vascular growth which in time
generate this kind of symptoms).
Or you can have a few other relationships
during this time with other
men (you never know what happens with your
life) and then you can
reflect which would have been a better
decision.

I already knew those are some of my
options, thanks though. Can this illness
not get worse, or is it guaranteed to get
worse, or is it really just completely
different from person to person?

The worst thing that can happen is if he
runs around killing everyone, and thats
cool, just look whats going on in iraq,
you've got no reason to stress

Look on the bright side, in one hundred
years it's not going to matter.

Someone must be really desperate for
