Q: a Father's Right.

Whether I believe in abortion or not........And I am a woman...I still think that the male involved with the conception of the pregnancy should have a say in whether or not the pregnancy is carried out....If a woman wants to carry the pregnancy to term, the man should have no say...She wants to protect her child...If the woman does not want to carry the pregnancy to term...The man should have a say...He wants to protect his child. He is half of that "fetus, child, baby, thing" and should at least have a little bit of say in it. It's not fair that if the woman purposely gets pregnant she can keep the child and then sue the father for child support for 18 years for a child he doesn't want, but she can abort a child they both made without his say, even if he wants to be a daddy.

A man who creates a child and then chooses he doesn't want it...Won't pay for it...And doesn't take his parental responsibilites: dead beat dad

i am not saying these are the only people who are pro-choice and have abortions...Every person has their own story... I'm just trying to make a point about fathers and their rights.

Heather - the problem is that so many men throughout history have just abandoned women and their children, and now society is saying that they have to accept responsibility. If a man had unprotected sex there would be no consequences, and so often until dna testing they could just claim they weren't the father. No we can prove they are.

But men have manipulated and coerced and lied to women to get them to have sex with them, and it is the women who end up pregnant. That's always going to happen, but now women can at least have some control over their lives and not accept they are baby-factories.

First, I would really like to say thanks you for your response....You are one of a kind...Thanks for trying to make me understand your side and not just yelling at me....I appreciate this very much. And I understand what you are saying completely...And I understand there are problems with how society works....And this saddens me. So I know we need legislation demanding men to step up and take care of their children....But I also have a soft spot in my heart for the fathers-to-be that are stripped their rights as a father and have to stand back and watch as their child and their dreams disapear....I know the majority of men don't care...But then their are men who embrace the fact that they are goin to be daddy's....And it is for these men that I want to cry ....

Yes true. Men should always have a say in if they want the child aborted or not, since it's their child, too. I mean if the woman wants to have the abortion and the man does not, at least let the man take care of it if he wants to have that responsibility. But its true, most men leave women usually and make them have abortions.

When the man be the one who is pregnant, he can have a say as to whether he has an abortion.

Why don't people understand that it is not always about not wanting a baby, it is about not wanting to be pregnant. And don't say, then don't have sex. If you are using birth control, sometimes accidents happen. And maybe if you are a teenager, you can say that you can go on welfare, or your parents will look after you or whatever. But if you are a woman with a mortgage and people who depend on you, and a job with respsonsibilities, and you don't want a child, then it is no one's business but yours if you have an abortion.

i disagree, janet. That child was still made by two people, even if it is growing in you. I understand that birth control fails, and that some people have an abortion because they don't want to be pregnant. But I think you should have to consider the man who helped create that life. He should have a say in the matter. Maybe he would like to have the child. He might even want it knowing that you want nothing to do with it afterwards. And as for not wanting to be pregnant, oh well. I mean, it's nine months out of your life. Yeah, that's a long time. But just "not wanting to be pregnant" is not a good reason to have an abortion.

I disagree daile. It is woman's body. The pregnancy impacts a woman's life, livelihood, her job etc. How she deals with prenancy in her life is only her business. Therefore the extent of the man's wishes can be considered by the woman on an individual basis. We cannot make a law that entitles every man who shoots his sperm the right to semi-control her pregnancy, birth, etc. Legal abortion allows the freedom for couples to decide individually. It is the only way the situation can be fair for women since they are 9 times out 10 left with the burden of dealing with a child and no "daddy"i.E. No second income to help raise the kid(s).

I dont know what so say because it is true that it's the woman's body, but, it does take two people to make the baby. It's the child of both. So a man should always have a say. That's all I can think of.

Yes he can state his desires, but, ultimately the decision rests with the woman because the responsibility of being pregnant, giving birth and then being the primary caregiver is alot more respinsibility than "donating" sperm.

Heahter for one I misssss you but two... What about all those dads who get a girl pregnant and are like well shes just a prostitute but in reality the mom would be a great mom reguardless? Would they get a say and force an abortion?

Oh lord no, I don't think anyone should be able to force an abortion......For one I don't believe in abortion at all......And I think noone should be able to force an abortion! I miss you tooooo!!!!!!!!

Yes, the woman is ultimately the caretaker and it is therefore her choice. I mean, what if the man "wanted" the baby, she had it and then he left? This happens all of the freakin time. The one who is pregnant gets the say and that is the way it should be.
As I said in the other post about this, if the woman feels that the man really wants the child and can and will take care of it then she would ultimately have the baby. Even if she had it and then just gave it to him. But if she knows full well that the man is going to be worthless, but he has the right to force her to have the baby? I don't think so.
It is hard enough for a woman to get out of an abusive relationship. Letting the man have a say in whether or not she breeds would be pure evil.

Quite often, the woman is left to decide on her own and the man is nowhere to be found.Or she is told to do whatever she wants with "it".I have had friends who had to not only make the decision on their own ,but pay for the whole abortion.I have also known many women who were told that birth control was up to them,physically and finacially.So,with that being said,why should some jackleg be able to tell me what to do with my body???!!!Patty

Lol. Once again, "he" is not protecting anything. I just love how you respond to one sentence of a whole post.
As I said, in some instances it is a control thing and in others they just want the baby to say they have a baby but never take care of it.

No, that isn't how it works at all. And it is so funny how you make fun of me and spell intellect wrong! Lol.

Anywho, no, when you take one sentence out of a whole post all you do is show your lack of interest in actually trying to make a point.
Usually that "one sentence" is proven or backed up by the rest of the post. And sometimes that one sentence that you pick out has nothing to do with the whole content of the post. Therefore you aren't even debating. You are just wasting time.
