Confused Hi I have a dilema. Well I been on the pill for about 2 months. I haven't been taking them at the same time but I have been taking them. Well recently I had unprotected sex before I was suppose to take my pill. I forgot my pill I took it another day later but then I didn't take the other pill for that day. I stopped taking the pill altogether because I have been having some pregnancy symptoms. It's been about three days since I been off the pill. I took a pregnancy test but came negative I don't know if maybe I took it to soon. I just started spotting or hving what might be a period but I don't know. I'm not sure if it's because I just got of the pill or if im pregnant. I haven't been of the pill that long to be bleeding. My periods are somewhat irregular but to my calculations my period should come around next week give or take. How do I know if this is my period or pregnancy? Confused

Well, i'm not an expert or anything, but I think it's possible you could be pregnant, since you missed the pill, and then stopped taking them. However, I wouldn't worry about it. Since you stopped taking the pill you could be starting your period. The only thing that stops your period when you're on the pill is the hormones, so it doesn't matter that you shouldn't start til next week, because you stopped the pills early. I think that it would probably be too early for a pregnancy test to work, but I don't think you would be pregnant anyway. If you haven't gotten your period by the end of next week, then go to the doctor and ask to have a test done. They can tell you. And if it's negative, then I would suggest finding a form of birth control you can remember to take, especially if you're having unprotected sex and don't want a baby.

This doesn't feel like a period because now the spotting has stop. Would being off the pill for three days start my period.. This has happened last year, I was taking the pill unregular and I ended up pregnant and I didn't have any symptoms but a missed period(had a miscarriage). So I don't really know if its that or not. I'm not scared of pregnancy I just really want to know..

It's possible that you are spotting and will start in a few days. However, it's also possible that it's implantation bleeding. That happens when the fertilized egg hooks onto the uterus. How long ago was the incident with unprotected sex?? If it was more than a week, I wouldn't worry about this being implantation bleeding, cause I think it would have done that already. If it was only four or five days ago, then you might want to talk to a doctor.

It happened about friday or saturday of last week. So it's been only 6 days or 7 days ago.

It's possible that the spotting was implantation bleeding. If you don't get your period by the time that it was supposed to come had you stayed on the pill, go to the doctor and ask for a quantitative blood test. Hpt's can just be a waste of money, so go straight for the blood test so you can know for sure. The quantitative will not only tell you if you're pregnant or not, but how much hcg in in your system.

I hope everything comes out the way you want it to!!

Please see your doctor to have a blood test.It may be too soon, but with your history of irregular periods and pill use ,it is very possible that you are indeed pregnant.Good luck.Patty
