I had brain cancer and took chemotheraphy both intravenously and orally. I also had 30 very intense radiation treatments directly to my brain. When I was 42, I had gone through menopause. Could the chemotheraphy and/or the radiation have caused or contributed in any way to this? I am 45 now and feel like I am starting to have more hot flashes, night sweats, and moods swings again. My husband said he heard on the radio that some report showed a link between chemo and premature menopause, and that since it was premature, the symptoms were spread out over a longer period of time (would tend to come and go). I was wondering if there was anything to this report.

Yes,chemo and radiation can cause menopause.Sometimes you do resume your periods, but not always.I'm surprised your oncologist did not tell you about this.I hope you are doing well now and are in remission.Patty
