Chronic Back Pain At Age 25 Posted: 10-14-04 18:32pm
I was in a auto wreak over a year ago and
have had back pain every day. I suffer
from a lumbar sprain but the doctor said
it would get better. But it hasn't also I
am in a law suit from it and they have
denied fault up until today now they want
to settle after they found out the other
guy was not telling the truth about the
wreak. I went to a chropratic for
treatment for 3 mths after the wreak then
he release me but the pain never went
away. So a year later, laywer said hey if
you still hurt go back to the doctor in
for a penny in for a pond he said, so I go
back to another chropratic for a second
opinon he thought I had a bulging disc
from new x-rays. So I get mri done, came
back not showing a bulging disc but I have
disc height loss in my l4-l5 so that
doctor tells me to go back to the 1st
doctor he looks at mri and said my spine
is to straight and something is not right
in my l5-s1, and he said he can see where
all my pain is coming from and he
recommanded a spinal injection to help me.
So my lawyer said he wants to settle for
27,000 I want opinon about this I am 25 I
have very hard time sitting, standing,
picking up heavy objects, and even having
sex with me being on top is almost
impossiable with the pain I feel and it
depresses me alot to be so young with this
back problem doctor bill is almost 10,000
laywer gets 33%. Is 27,000 a good
settlement for this problem at 25 and
knowing its not going to get any better
probably worse over the years after all
thats paid out I get nickels and dimes for
a life long injury that I shouldn't have,
that has limited my actives whats a good
number that is fair for a wreak that was
100% other guy fault that has gave me a
life time of pain?

Do not settle yet! That is tooo cheap,
you might have problems later, and it doe
not sound like you are doing too well now,
I have problems with l-5&s1 but I am a
lot older! Do you have nerve problems
such as tingling in your leg, foot? If
you do settle for just a small amount,
make sure your medical is covered
separately and permanantly. An epidural
steroid injection might help but some
times you do need more than one and you
can only get so many in one year, I have
had quite a few, they have helped some,
but not others. I live everyday with
pain so I understand what you are going
thru! I am no Dr. Have you tried light
physical therapy, light swimming therapy,
spa therapy? I am not totally against
chiropracters but their are some that can
make you worse, have you tried
acupuncture, that is just like
chiropractors(some good, some not). Good
luck to you, and keep us posted and stay
on your dr's. Butt, until you get
better!
Sincerely,
sandy

Please do not settle... I'm in a similiar
situation..I'm a 24 year old female who
was in a car accident 2 months ago and am
suffering from chronic back pain first
doctors said it was muscular now they're
seeing annular tears and anothrosis in my
l4 and l5 discs... Doctors suck and have
no idea what they're doing half the time,
but do not settle. I also suggect that
you take this post off in case it get's
into the wrong hands. I was told by my
lawyer not to make any details public
because you never know who can get a hold
of it and twist your words. I feel so
bad for you, i'm in insane back pain and
it's only been for 2 months and I can
barely stand it. I've been in physical
therapy for the past month with no real
results. It's only been 2 months and I
almost want surgery if it means my pain
going away.
E-mail me if you'd like to talk further
i'd like to know more about your
accident.
Do not settle though...Back pain disrupts
everything I had to take a semester off
school because mine got so bad because
some stupid woman did not know how to
drive. Fight. This may be an injury
you're battling for an even longer time!
Get back to me ok? And request a tens
unit from your doctor, they work wonders.
