Inderal, Bad For Asthmatic Patients? Spiriva Good For Copd? Posted: 10-13-04 23:07pm
Was told by several,and some
physicians,that inderal could cause
problem in asthmatic patients. I have
been taking this for about 15 years
now, before I was diagnosed with this copd.
And I was told too, that spiriva had good
results for copd patients, anyone have any
ideas?

i was on inderal 40 mg three times a day
for 20 years until recently despite asthma
and emphysema treatment. Chemists kept
telling me they were counterindicative but
I stayed on the inderal: I had been put on
it for migraine.
I weaned myself off it earlier this year
but have gone back on 1 tablet a day. I
was also put on spiriva once a day two
months ago. I think it works quite well
though am not sure how well since I have
now developed a bulla on my lung, ie a
blister, which is making me breathless.
To answer your question re inderal my own
experience is that everyone says it makes
your asthma worse but if you have need to
be on it for any reason I don't think it
affects your breathing much at all.

As far as spiriva goes most of the people
I know love it, I am still using atrovent
in neb and pulmocort neb, as far as the
inderal is concerned it must be the
aspirin component in it, which is a no no
for people with asthma. Lindy

Inderal And Aspirin Posted: 11-21-04 13:36pm
First time i've heard of aspirin having
bad effect on asthma. I have to take it
once a day for angina, and don't, and have
never, seen a problem there in relation to
asthma. In relation to ulcer, yes
defiitely, a prob with me as I have an
ulcered (barrett's) osophegus, but take
med to counteract asprin there. But i'd
be reluctant to tell anyone not to take
aspirin because of asthma - aspirin is
such a great drug for so many disorders,
as they keep finding out.
