Q: Pregnancy?

Okay, so this is more about lack of birth control than birth control itself. My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex since july, pretty much every time we are together (which is pretty often). July is also when my last period was. However, my doctor swears that there's no way i'm pregnant, because they've done five pregnancy tests (two urine, three blood) and all were negative. Also, they put me on the provera pill for a week to start my period, but it didn't work, just some horrible cramping that stuck me in bed for hours crying. Is there any way that I really am pregnant and am just so screwed up that all the tests are wrong? Or is there something else that could be messing me up?? As of next week I will have missed three periods, which I read can do bad things to your body, but I don't know what to do about it. Please give me any information you can, because i'm really worried.

Have you had any other symptoms of pregnancy? Have you been nauseaous or starting to "grow"? It is possible to be pregnant and have negative tests come back.. But it's rare... It may also be something else going on..

I haven't really had any other symptoms. I'm always tired, but my mom said that could be from a history of anemia in my family. I've gained some weight, but I think it's just from starting college (i eat so much more now). Also, the doctor just did blood tests for my hormone levels, tumors, and like sixty other things (i don't even remember them all) and he said everything is normal. I don't understand how I can miss three periods if everything is normal!!!

It sounds like you are definitely not pregnant.. But keep searching for the reason. It sounds like something else is causing it. You would have other symptoms at this point if you were really pregnant. Missing you period is actually not dangerous. It may be that your body hasn't fully regulated itself and it's not always completely abnormal for younger people to miss periods. I would say if you are still having this problem over the next few months then think about getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

It would be very rare to be pregnant and have both urine and blood tests negative. It is possible that you are stressed due to starting college and being away from home and worrying about your period. If you are not gettimg any solid answers from your regular doc, perhaps you should get another opinion.Just a thought.Good luck.Patty

Thanks for your help, guys. I started spotting on saturday, and i'm going to see a gynocologist on friday. Hopefully they'll be able to explain what's happening.
