Q: Liver Problems For 3 Year Old

My grandson has a sgot of 224,as a matter of fact both test showed levels of over 200. He is anemic and stays constipated. Mono test was negative,waiting for epstein-barr results. Can anybody help me to understand what is going on! Question

You might want to have him tested for hemochromatosis, it is a genetic disease and exhibits many of the same symptoms as anemia, but is caused by iron overload in the body and will usually give normal range limits in tibc and iron tests - you have to specifically request serum ferritin tests and if those are also elevated, then request the hemochromatosis dna mutagen test. If he is given iron pills/shots and actually has hemochromatosis - it will cause fibrosis/cirrosis of the liver and a host of other problems. Many doctors are unaware of this disease, but it is actually very common 1 in 200 have the disease - it is extremely high in those of irish (1 in 3), french and german ancestry.
