Hi,
its been 2 years now that I have an odd burning sensation at the bottom of my trachea (more like behind it..And on the left side).

Sometimes it almost disappear and sometimes it becomes almost painfull.

i have it on a daily basis.

it all started after I was sick with a serious infection in my throat (voice box).

I've tried: losec, pro-losec, zantec in case its reflux.
I've tried: flonase in case its a post-nasal-drip.

It keeps bugging me no matter what I do.

symptoms include:
-burning sensation a specially when I press on the area mentioned above with my fingers. (i feel a need to cough as a result of that..)
-when the sensation is strong I also have a white salty (?!) mucus, that comes from deep down my throat.
-sometimes when you drink/eat fast you start coughing as a result of food going the wrong way, the pain I feel comes straight from that area.
-i have no heartburn.
-i'm 100% healthy, thin, non-smoker, haven't been sick since 2 years.
-i'm not using any medication.

my thoughts:
-maybe its psychological??
-maybe its food allergy/normal allergy.
-maybe I still have nasty germs in my voice-box.

hope someone can give me a direction/solution.
i heard a lot of people that mention reflux etc. But i've never heard someone that has salty mucos coming out of his/her throat.

Thanks ! Cool

Burning Sensation Back of Throat
I also have the same problem. At first I thought is was caused by the nicorette gum that I have been using to help me quit smoking. Now that I no longer use the gum I was thinking it was too much coffee.

Burning Sensation Back of Throat
I have a similiar problem. Over the past few years I have developed bad sinus problems and about 2 months ago my voice started getting very horse and until a few days ago my throat is burning and hurting. When I cough, sneeze or laugh it hurts very bad.

I went to an ent and he performed a test with a camera tube through my nose into my throat. He said I have an infection in my throat with polyps and a bacteria infection. He gave my a nose spray and a twice a day antibiotic (omisef). So far I have noticed no change.

throat stuff
is it possible to be strep throat or mono? Mono bacteria is present until you die after you get the virus and can act up at any time?
