Someone else is suppose to throw it for you. Usually they will ask if they can throw you a shower. If nobody asks you then you can always ask a close friend or family member if they would mind throwing you one. Just make sure they won't get mad about being asked. People usually know to bring a gift to a baby shower and I think when you send invitations out you can write in it that you are registered at a specific place. You can have it at the persons house that will be throwing it for you or you can have it there.

You should definitely register. And do it big and do it right because no matter how many kids you have the rule of thumb is that you only get one baby shower. My aunt's giving me one sometime in november and i'm due in mid january.

Register at places like babies'r'us and register for everything you need. Don't worry about how much other people spend, if you register they can buy what they can afford. This is all about you and your baby and you shouldn't worry about how much other people spend. Register for .E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G you think you'll need. That's how i'm doing it.

The 'you only get one' baby shower rule is like not wearing white after labor day. You shouldn't do it, but people do anyway. I understand if they're far apart in age because safety regulations on things like car seats change. I know a girl who's having another wedding shower and I think that's a pretty big faux pa, but that's probably just because she got married the first two times a couple years ago. I wonder if elizabeth taylor had a shower everytime she got married...

I think it depends a lot on you and your family. In my family we have one for every baby, but my husbands family has only one. So when I have another kid i'll probably only do a second one with my family and i'll just exlude my husbands side. They get offended easily about that kind of stuff.

I don't think people should be offended by it if you want to have more than one. That's just old timey baby shower etiquette and who the hell pays any attention to etiquette nowadays? I'm only gonna have one because i'm probably only gonna have one kid. If I ever get pregnant again it'll probably be here in ten years, so I may have to have two showers.

Well who should I invite? Should I invite jon's mom and grandmothers? Should my mom be there? I am very careful about the people that I surround myself with, and my daddy always says that his mama always told him "you can count all of your friends on one hand, and probably two fingers, so if you count god as one, you only truely have one friend." and this is something that I really believe. I mean I have people that I call friends, but they are really associates, and very few friends. So should I invite these associates just to fill up the room or no? And not only that most of my family has moved out of state ,so not many of them will be attending.

I have never heard the "only one baby shower" deal, but I do its not "proper" for your family to throw it - as in your mom or husbands/baby daddy mom.

I'm broke and greedy so i'm inviting every female I know on both sides of my family (moms relatives and dads relatives), the two female friends I have (i hang out with all guys), and my gay friend randy. I'm not inviting anyone on the 'dads' side because I don't know any of them.

I'm so in it for the presents. I don't want to play cheesey games, but that's because I just suck. My aunt that's throwing it is pretty cultured and classy so I doubt she'll plan anything I don't want. I read that I should get her a gift for throwing my shower. She's pregnant too, she's due in march I think.
