How Do I Know??
Posted: 10-11-04 11:11am

Last month, I had sex for the first time ever. My boyfriend and I had sex on three different occasions, and all three times we used condoms. I am now, ten days late for my period, and am afraid that I may be pregnant. I haven't taken a test yet, I plan to wait until friday on the chance that I might start this week. I am sixteen years old, but under a lot of stress. I do high school and college classes and have several mid-terms due this week. I am involved in a lot of extra-curricular activities including nhs and student council, i'm from a very small town, so if I did end up being pregnant it would be the biggest scandal in a long time. I hope that it is only stress causing my period to be off, or possibly just some side-effects from it being my first time. Is that possible? I asked a friend and she told me not to worry because she has had unprotected sex many times and not gotten pregnant, but I still can't help being terrified.

hey you!
Just to let you know, i'm 19, also from a small town in michigan. And last month, I was two weeks late for my period as well. I was very scared. I have only been having sex for three months, and this was my first scare. I talked myself into the fact that I was pregnant, and then I took a blood test to confirm....Negative. Two days after the test...And after I stopped stressing...My period came. So don't worry. And let me tell you something else girlie...Your friend is ignorant...I don't mean to sound so cruel, but she has been lucky, but that won't always happen. My best friend has been sexually active for five years, and has never used protection.......She just got lucky. Until two months ago. Now she is expecting. So don't take her advice when it comes to sex, ok honey?

Also...If you are pregnant....It won't be as big a deal as you think...Your parents love you...And we can only pray they will understand...It will be a life changing experience...A very hard one...And there are always other choices to think of...Adoption being my favorite, lol .Keep us updated...I'm always here if you wanna talk, ok?

ps, serious question...How are you a 16 year old health teacher?

I'm not really a health teacher. A friend of mine and I found this website one day when we were in health class, and signed up for it. My friend is kind of a joker and so she posted that other message with this name to make fun of our health teacher. Then, when I became late I figured that I could come to this web site and see if anyone else had ever been in my situation.

Hey, thanks for your stories guys, it really helps. I'm actually from central michigan. This whole experience is definitely changing my perspective on life. If I end up (hopefully) not being pregnant i'll still know a lot more about what i'm ready for and not, also who my real friends are. Thanks for caring enough to share with me! **hug**
