Q: Is There Anything to Fill the Emptiness?

I have just recently had a hysterectomy, 11 days ago. I am a mother of 4 girls and a stepson but still I feel "empty". I find myself crying occassionally at the thoughts of not having anymore children. This probably sounds silly, having 5 kids already but I am only 32 and biologically that is still young and within childrearing age. I had the hysterectomy due to a prolapsed uterus that was diagnosed after my first child 10 years ago. Obviously my body retired for me. I am thankful for the children I have but what I want to know is, does the feelings of loss and emptiness go away? I bet this is how a parent who is suffering "empty nest syndrome feels", im not sure what to do to make these feelings go away. I would appreciate any advise at all. Thanks.

Emptiness
Feel blessed that you have 5 wonderful children. I have 1 21 year old and tried for years to have another but the wonderful man upstairs said I only needed one to fulfill my life and he was right. I have a wonderful 2 year old granddaughter and a new 7 day old granddaughter. I have set my hysterectomy surgery for nov. 5 and cant wait. I know I do not want more children because I am ready to live life for me now. I am 38 and have been divorced for 8 1/2 years now and ready to look forward to my grandchildren, and dating with out pain or bleeding.Good luck to you and look forward to the future, I am sure you will have lots of grandchildren in the future so rest up for them.
