I have lupis and I break out in hives and have terrible itching weather the hives are ther or not. I have joint pain, weakness, hair loss, facial skin rash, eyelid drooping, swelling, hormone spots on upper lip, numbness, limbs fall to sleep, insomnia, muscle aches, menstral problems, vaginal dryness, shooting pains, weight gain, and various other problems. Can anyone tell me about this intense itching? It's so bad I want to scratch my skin off. I can understand itching with hives, but I itch just as bad without hives. Please tell me your thoughts and suggestions on treatment. I've gone through many tubes of cortizone cream and it's driving me crazy!

You are *not* crazy. During my first recognized flare, I did the same thing. It took steroids (internally, not topical) to get rid of it.

I would suggest going to your rheumy and letting them know. My doctor later informed me that while it is not common, some people do have itching with the lupus rashes (not hives).

I hope this helps! Hugs,

Itching
Hi guys,

i itch all the time. The doc's are not sure if it's my lupus or not because my skin is clear at this point. I am always scratching to the point where it looks bad. Sometimes I get hives but most of the time there is nothing. My head itches most of all. Don't get me wrong it's not a hygene issue I bathe every day. When it gets to bad to handle I take a benedryl. Allergy meds seem to help. Plus I can't put creams in my hair. I try not to use my creams to much because you can get desensitised to them.

I also use aveno in my baths once a week. It's messy but it's soooo soothing. :d I hope this helps.

Keep smiling,
jenn Cool
