I had gastric bypass surgery in june of 2003 and have not really had to many problems except that I have extreme gas and odor. Does anyone no why and how to control it . Its hard for my family to even breath. Is this a problem from the surgery? My doctors say that its normal and thats one of the side effects with the surgery, but there must be some help out there. Is it in the protein or food that I eat. ?

Odors?
It should go away, I had bad odor for awhile but not as long as you have. Your surgery was in june of 03, you posted this in oct. 04, that was over a year after your surgery, seems like a long time for that "side effect" to still be happening. Could be diet related but not likely unless you are following the atkins diet.

Gas
Wow, I finally found someone in the same shoes as me.... I have the stinky gas as well. I had the by-pass done february 2004 and have been experiencing the bad gas for 6 weeks now. I've had all the test done and now I believe its ibs. My insurance will not cover a nutricianist/dietician so i'm hoping someone out there will give me some ideas as to what to eat and not to eat. How are you feeling now?
