I am a relatively healthy 28 year old, I have smoked in the past (for about 12 years) but have since quit. I drink socially and other than that, I am quite healthy. I exercise regulary and dont eat junk food. So, anyways, I got pericarditis about a year ago, and finally after 2 trips to the er they diagnosed it and sent me home with the advice to take aspirin for a few weeks. Well, it cleared up and then about 2 months ago I started developing the same symptoms. I made a few more trips to the er and had no definitive answer on whether or not it was pericarditis. The symptoms I have been experiencing over the last 2 months are dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, muscle weakness, tremors, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, pounding heart, palpitations, feeling very cold, headaches....There are probably a few more but I cant remember right now. Anyways I went to see an internist and he listened to my heart and said he heard a knocking sound. Well I dont think that hearts are supposed to make a knocking sound. But I am scheduled for an echocardiogram to find out what is going on. Does anyone know what could be going on? I have also been having mild discomfort in my chest as well as mild indigestion. Please, if anyone has any helpful information it would be much appreciated as I am very worried!!!!!

I Am Not a Dr
But the echo can give some answer's..Its possible the endocardinitis may have damaged your heart.
I suggest until you have answer's that you not have large meals, it can bring on a heart attack.
Wish I could help more...Lupne

Thanks For the Info
But since when did having large meals cause heart attacks? Sorry I have never heard of that before. It is actually pericarditis that I had and it doesn't actually affect the heart, just the lining of the heart. But I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

Do a google search on mitral valve prolapse syndrome. I have suffered from this syndrome on and off for years now; and it's only a very rare doctor who will even think of mentioning it to you. I have all the symptoms you describe. Good luck!

Thanks For Your Reply
I haven't had a chance to do any research yet, but would this be something that would show up on a echocardiogram? I had one done a few months ago and everything came back normal. I have had decreased symptoms since then....I think some of it was that I had worried myself so much about having something wrong, but I still have some symptoms every once and a while. I also suffer from anxiety, and at times panic attacks so I think some of it might be related to that. But I appreciated your reply, were you diagnosed by an echo? Or are there other tests to diagnos it. I am hoping that I dont have to worry about any other heart related issues...For a while anyways but I would definately like to know if this is something that might not be found from an echo. Thanks again!

I've read that a heavy meal can contribute to a heart attack. Just like anxiety, exercise or anything that stress your heart
