Q: Skin Lesions

Hi,
does anyone else at all have an overwhelming problem with skin lesions? I used to get them just around my neck, shoulders, scalp, and jawline. Within the last year, though, they've started appearing other places and now have a tendency to become infected. I've had one on my face, one on my arm and another on my leg turn into cellulitis. I now have a supply of antibiotics on hand in case that happens. I wash with a prescription antibacterial soap. Currently, I have one above my right eye that apparently is infected because my eye is almost swollen shut. My doctor doesn't understand why this keeps happening to me. I've been to an infectious disease specialist, but she offered no reason why or way to prevent it except the prescription soap. She can treat it very effectively once it happens, but I just want to prevent it. These are very painful. I'm going to my doc this a.M. To see if he thinks I should have this on lanced. I'm just so sick of this. Oh, one more thing the specialist prescribed is a bactroban nasal cream since the staph germs can live in the nasal passages. I'm using it. Can anyone help me?

I know *exactly* what you are talking about. I have about four antibiotic creams, cleaners and a host of other things.

One of the best things I have found is actually otc to clean the sores, it is called hibiclens. It is a anti-bacterial that they use in the hospital.

See if that helps (if you haven't already).

Lesions
Hi lady brannon,
thanks for the tip about hibiclens. I will definitely try it. Just to give an update, I went to the Dr. On monday & he sent me to the emergency room where the infectious disease Dr. Met me. They didn't lance this infection, even though I have a very painful lump larger than an egg over my eye. They did a ct scan to make sure the infection hadn't spread to the back of my eye. It hadn't, but I do have it in my sinuses. They put in a pic line again, so i'm doing the antibiotics at home. I have another appt. Today w/ the infectious disease doc. I sure hope they can do something to relieve the pain in this swollen area. It's almost unbearable at times. I'm still managing to get to work and at least teach my classes. I leave when i'm done teaching. I couldn't stand to think of what my students were thinking when they saw me teaching in dark glasses and with the pic line in my arm, so I explained it all to them. They were o.K. W/ it and some were surprisingly compassionate. College students are great. I just love them. Any way, just say a prayer for me that I can keep plugging along and that I can get some relief from the pain.
