Q: Will They Ever Go Away?

I am a recovering addict. I have been clean for 14 months. So far the hardest and best thing I have ever done for myself. But I am wondering, will the urges ever go away. Or is this something I will fight with for the rest of my life. When I watch movies with drugs in them or see, users on the street, I get this sick feeling in my stomach, and sadness and guilt overwhelm me. Will these feelings ever go away? Maybe someone who is farther along in their sobriety could help me out with this? I would appreciate any input.

My mom is a recovering alcohlic, I dont want to scare you but the urge will probably always be there. Shes been out of rehab 2 yrs and she still in certain places/situations wants one. Believe in yourself that you can do it and take the skills you learned and try your best. If you slip up its not the end of the world, your human. The best of luck to you I dont personally know what your going through but I empathise, seeing what my mom goes through. You can do it Wink
