Q: Mucus when coughing

Hi I am new to this forum and I was just recently diagnosed with asthma, one problem that is driving me insane is that everythime I cough to try to get the phlegm out of my throat there is a clicking almost like a very thick mucus and it has been going on like this for months, anyone had this ??

Please can anyone reply?? Also I have had some serious acid reflux to the point of waking me up all hours of the night because it is coming up my throat and burning like crazy!!

I'm not sure about the problem with the mucus in your lungs.. Have you tried taking an expectorant to get it out?
As for the acid reflux.. Make sure you get that looked at!! I say this because I was diagnosed with asthma and several months later had major problems with acid reflux. I went to the doctor and it was confirmed I had gastric reflux disease.. Well one of the side effects is asthma-like symptoms because even if you don't realize it the acid is getting in your lungs. I went on prevacid and have not had problems with "asthma" ever since.
