Re Nervous Rash
Hi Girls. I have read some of the posts here. I agree with most of the comments and wasn't aware from a man's perspective that this was an issue. I now realise it is. I agree that this goes with blushing and the more I was aware of this the worse it was. The more you worry about it the more it is going to happen. I feel it is to do with the way a person approaches things. Decide what circumstances make this happen and try to find the tools to deal with the feelings you get when this occurs so hopefully you can learn to control it. Best of luck

I remember reading what other people had said about this issue (that I also have) and some people replied saying they received beta blockers from their doctor and that those helped alot....at the same time people were sayin that they would not like to go on those...I'm wondering about these, If they help I would go on them now...but at the same time, what is bad about them that some do not want to go on them??

blotchy
I too suffer from this. I'm twenty and going to social outings can be complicated if i want to dress up..i can't...Esp. if there is going to be people there that I don't know. I get anxious and i turn blotchy red...It wouldnt be a problem if i turned solid red but i look crazy when it happens. And then people point it out and it makes it last ten times longer and takes forever for it to go away. I cant wear cute girly shirts on dates..I have to find tshirts or wear hoodies. So i feel your pain. I havent found anything that stops it. Unless im just completely comfortable around the people im around..then i wear whatever...but let someone approach me that i dont know and all redness will break loose. Sucks.
if anyone has ideas that work....let me know.
aim= crackatck
thanks.

btw: selsum blue...doesnt work...well didnt for me. Made my chest and neck sooooo dry.

Geeze I can't get over how many people have this, my mom and I both do...I look on here almost everyday just to see if someone has found a cure or something. I can't even remember the day it started, or what caused it in the beginning. But I react the same as everyone else on here! I am still interested in how those beta blockers work....seen postings about people that have this and took a beta blocker and that it totally helped them.... And it's so dumb how people I talk to say ah it's no big deal don't worry about it, just wear what you want....Well easy for others to say that do not have it....If they could just imagine how they blush on there cheeks....but this is on the neck and chest area...and it's not completely red, it's blotchy which is much much worse and odd....

Gosh I get mine more then ever now...used to be only when i'm nervous, anxious, worried, or drinking. Now it's almost all the time, I was just cooking supper tonight and it came on my neck, chest and spread to my right arm all the way to my wrist! Sad

I FOUND A CURE!!!!!!!!
A NATURAL CURE!!!!!

Hi All,
After experiencing these awful red blotches and sweating for YEARS and not understanding what was going on...I felt like just withdrawing from all social situations. I started becoming more nervous about whether or not I was broken out in the rash than I was of the actual situation itself. It was affecting every area of my life and i, like many people, aren't always nervous when it happens! It started happening with just oral presentations, or meetings at work...but then it worked its way into ANY conversation I had with a group (including best friends) and ESPECIALLY one on one convos. Anyway, I'll get to the point: ACUPUNCTURE!!!!!! I tried it as a last resort (being one that didn't want to take any anxiety medicine) and my god, it worked! The acupuncturist was the only one who seemed to understand what was going on. He said my adrenal glands were fatigued and basically my sympathatic nervous system was out of whack. He said, "a nervous situation could arise and you're nervous systems gets a little revved up, only yours doesn't know when to stop and just keeps revving and revving and revving"..I wanted to just scream "YES!". So he did some simple touch-tests and saw that I was severly lacking B-Complex and started treating me with that. Sure enough, within a week, I started noticing a difference and in less than 2 months I felt normal again. I started feeling that rush of heat start to build up except only now, I can feel it quickly shutting off and calming down...without turning red and sweating. It's absolutely amazing and has literally saved my social life. I honestly cannot stress this enough! My best recommendation is to go to NAET.com (it's just a form of acupuncture) and find a local NAET practitioner near you. My health insurance happened to cover 13 sessions but I am even paying out of pocket now b/c that's how much it has helped me. In fact, I was so blown away by it, I quit my full-time job and am now enrolled in school to become an acupuncturist. It's such a relieft, I can't even tell you...I just wanted to share this cure with you all b/c it's honestly saved me many, many days of crying from frustration and embarassment! Please let me know if anyone else has had the success I had...and if any of you try it (believe me, it's the best gift you can give yourself)...tell me about it! I'd love to hear. Good luck to you all....I know how it feels!

Breaking out with red blotches on neck/chest when nervous
I sorta have that exact same problem. When i'm around a large crowd, getting up in front of everyone, and talking to someone i like alot, and when i get hot i break out with these big red blotches all over my chest/neck and some on my face. I am 15 right now and it just started this past year. I don't go to parties and i try to stay away from social gatherings, (but being in high school is hard to do) all because i start breaking out with red blotches all over my neck/chest. I try to calm myself down when that happens, but it just doesn't seem to help. I would love to know how to make it stop,or something to do that would help.

Metoprolol 25mg twice a day. They are different high blood pressure pills for me, maybe a type of beta blocker.

I am fifteen years old, and have been getting this same prblem for about a year now , whenever I am nervous, excited, upset or any other kind of emotion basically, i get big red blotches on my chest, neck and cheeks.
I do not know what to do about this , because it has started to run my life. Someone suggested using aloe vera before getting dressed, does anyone know if this works?

Red rash on neck and chest
I too suffer from this, I'm 21 and I've been getting it since i was 13. It has caused me to abuse drugs and alcohol in the past. I'll wear my hair down or wear turtle necks to cover it up. It has affected my self esteem as well and causes me to avoid social situations, i've even lost friends over it because they thought I didn't like them when I said I don't want to hang out in a group...I wish a group of drs. could study us because I'm not sure if they know fully about this problem that we experience, me on a daily basis. I really don't want to fall back into substance abuse again but I need another option!!! I'm going to school and being in class causes me anxiety and I break out in this rash which causes me to lose focus on whatever is going on in class... Feel free to write me.
with all these technological advances why haven't they found a way out for this?! :-/

POSSIBLE NERVOUS/HEAT RASH CURE
POSSIBLE CURE...I get the nervous rash obviously when I am nervous or anxious and sometimes when I am to hot it is all blochy on my chest and sometimes spreads to my shoulders...anyway I went to a dermatologist and brought it up to him, he said to try allergy medication such as claritin or zyrtec, I got the generic brand that is the same as claritin and today was my first day using it, so far it feel like it may have made it a little better, just take the normal dosage 1 pill at night and it lasts for 24 hrs but might make you dorwsey so that's why you should take it at night...just thought I'd share to see if it'll work for anyone else

I get the awful blotchy red rash also. It started in 7th grades. I get it when I am nervous and have anxiety about something. It did however go away, when my self esteem was at an all time high. I also have heard about people taking beta blockers, I have never tried it. You should go to your doctor and see what he/she says. But it really goes away when your really confident in yourself, it did for me.

Aww I feel your pain! I too deal with this stupid, annoyingly, embarassing rash! I break out when i'm in social situations, really nervous, first start drinking, take a really hot shower, in a hot car. It really embarasses me especially in the social situations and all my friends, family, and boyfriend don't see what the big deal is, but they don't have to deal with this on a daily basis. To me it's a huge problem I avoid any situation that I know it will happen even if I really want to be there. It really interuppts my normal way of life.. I hear beta blockers work, but have never tried them...Please HELP!!!

I also suffer from this embarassing condition. It comforts me to know that I am not the only person who suffers from these nerve rashes. I started getting nerve rashes when I was in my early 20's and then I went into remission for a few years. My current job is very stressful and I've started getting them again. I can always tell when my neck and chest are getting red because it feels itchy and I feel heat coming off my chest. I'm going to try that derma cream that someone had suggested. I hope it works...I'm desperate.

Any support groups out there?
I'm glad I'm not alone in this irritating and embarrassing problem! Does anyone know if there are support groups with tips on how to control it?
(I believe it is not something you should treat with medication. It's definitely a psychological problem that needs to be treated with behavioral techniques.)
