Hi, I am an 18 year old student. For some
time now (4/5 years that I can remember) I
can become red in the face. Usually in
some sort of awkward situation, but many
times there is no need for me to go red
for example.
A presentation (school / college)
while I stand up in front of my peers I
almost certainly will go red, I have had
many ways of hiding this like; coughing
excessively like i’m choking, sitting down
until it has come and gone (often causes
awkwardness) or trying to put the
attention else where. I know few people
have this, but I feel my situation is
slightly different.
Talking to people in general, if i'm at
all put in the spot light I tend to go red
in the face, again using some sort of
distraction to put the attention away.
I have also had it in general
conversations with my mum or dad, for no
reason at all I will just go red in the
face, I feel hot in the face, then it goes
away, it wont usually come back in the
same conversation / what ever i’m doing.
Talking to girls, while I generally have
no problem talking to girls, I still tend
to go red in the face on occasions, when I
really shouldn’t. I will just go red in
perfectly normal talking situations.
I can give more examples / situations if
needed to clarify with anything.
Why am I asking about this now?
Well, I generally have been able to dodge
these situations, but i’m at university
now and I will have to stand up and do a
presentation and in the current state i'm
in there is no way I wont be able to do
this with out cracking up and making my
self look like some weird fool.
It really does make me nervous and i’m
very self conscious of it.
I believe it’s more then just a reaction
to some sort of embarrassment, or if it is
that, more of an extreme case.
Anyway, I hope someone here knows of this
sort of "hot flush" and has a possible
answer.
Thanks for any help given.
This sounds like anxiety. You could be
having anxiety attacks. I have them and
they can be debilitating. I would have to
walk away and get control usually by
taking several deep breaths. It
eventually got so bad I had to start
taking medication. I hope this helps.
Good lick
Im so glad I was able to help. Dont be
ashamed to talk about it either there are
alot of people who suffer in silence.
Good luck

Hydromafia: I know exactly what your
talking about - I too suffer from the
same. At first I thought it was nerves
but its not. Because even though I go red
etc I dont feel nervous in the situtation
im in. To give a further example, I
normally go red when asked a question from
someone I dont know, or even someone I do
know - even when its one to one - its
silly!!! Do you know of a cure
anybody!???
