Q: Is She Miscarrying?

My daughter is 18 years old. I just found out a few days ago that she is pregnant. She is about 7 weeks along. Last tuesday she had a brown discharge with what she said was maybe white mucous? Then 2 days later when she went to bathroom and wiped there was bright red blood on tissue. I took her to er. Doctor only did exam no ultra sound said that she may have an infection because her cervix was still closed. She has had no bleeding for the last 2 days. No cramping. Does this sound like a miscarriage happening.

I was about 7-8 weeks along and the same exact thing happened to me I had bleeding for 1 day and the white mucus stuff and that was it and the er said that it was nothing (don't you love it when they say that) but I was worried but everything was okay I now have a handsome 21 month old son they say when you have a miscarriage they can tell just by giving the pelvic exam because if you have a miscarriage your cervix will show signs of distress even though your not that far along so if the doctor said her cervix was still shut that is a good sign so I hope everything is fine I wish you (the grandmother to be) and your daughter (the mommy to be) the best of luck :d heather petersen :d

First of all I want to commend you on raising your daughter to be able to talk to you. Some girls would never tell their mother they are prg,as for the bleeding it happened to me as well as 2 of my friends. If she was mis carrying you would deffinately know. The cramping can and usually gets very severe. So dont worry unless it begins again and the bleeding gets heavier with clotting.Any questions always go to your doctor. Good luck

Is She Miscarrying
Thanks. When I was 44 I had a miscarriage. I had not seen the doctor yet. But, I want to say that a miscarriage can happen without cramping.I was 5 weeks along on mine. I had noticed that for two days I didnt have morning sickness. Then I started spotting withing 2 days it was all done. Hospital did a d&c so, I guess that is why it was over in 2 days, during that time I had no cramping at all just the heavy bleeding and diarrhea I blamed it on a burrito I had the day before?
Well, my daughter has not bled since friday and today is monday she has no cramping. Has anyone bled like that and it still happened? Just a brown spot one day at 7 weeks and bright red when wiped 2 days later and was there a longer time in between where the miscarriage happened?

I wouldn't worry about it. Some people spot like that throughout their pregnancy. It could be nothing at all. If she's starts bleeding heavely then take her back in to the doctor.

Sounds like what doctors call "implantation". If the bleeding occurs again with or without cramping she should call her Dr. Immediately. I have had 4 miscarriages, and bright red blood is usually a bad sign, but not always.. Being she hasn't had any of the other symptoms that go along with a loss, i'd guess she is just fine.

Good luck on everything!
