Epilepsy, Polycystic Ovaries And Depression...
Posted: 09-26-04 15:43pm

Hi, I am new to the forum. I have had epilepsy since I was 14. I had several tests done about four years ago and it was seen that a portion in the front right section of my brain was not developped, I have cerebral palsy. Shortly before my first seizure I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian sybdrome, and I started taking the pill to have a regular period. I had clockwork periods after that, but then I stood up one day and felt shaky and about a half hour after that had an intense migraine. These would happen every month or so...
When I started university the migraines stopped, but the seizures were happening 4 days a week and I was having them (mostly) in my sleep and would fall out of bed. The neurologist I saw put me on dilantin, but it wasn't working that well. I was dealing with several stressful circumstances in school, and was finding the work and lack of social support very depressing.
Today i'm taking tegretol and epoval as well as hormones for the pcos, i'm in the middle of trying to finish a diploma which is very demanding and my father's causing a lot of stress in the family with drinking. I'm heading down the same depressed road again and was wondering if this could be because of my seizures, or the pills. Should I think about anti depressants?

Thanks
al
