If it was an ovarian cyst and it ruptured then it would not be dangerous. Since you have had other symptoms I would go to a doctor and get checked out to make sure you do not have other cysts growing or that there isn't something else going on. It may be that the saw the one thing and looked over something else. Good luck!

I am going through the same thing and no one seems to know anything about it! I don't think it is just a cyst that ruptured because they said the pain would go away and it is not, if anything it is getting worse. I have yet another doctor's appointment tomorrow to figure this out hopefully.
If you have found anything out about yours please let me know so that I can hopefully figure out the same thing.

Hi i have a similar thing happen to me. I am a 23yr old female with two children a 2yr old n a 9week old baby. i have been having lower adominal pain on my right side for about 3weeks now i went to a&e and they admitted me because they thought it might be my appendix. they did a ultrasound scan and found free fluid in my pelvic region.They said this is a sign that something is wrong (not serious they said) but their not sure what, so they sent me home with some pain killers! The pain hasn't gone away and its making me really down....please does anyone have any answers????

i wish i have the same promblems just got back from the hosp, they did the same fluid maybe a cyst if its not a cyst what are they seeing because i had my cyst removed had no problem for years four about three years sorry to say sounds like you i cant get the answers i need other than fluid in pelvis but if they take out all my female stuff maybe i would be better but i have no insruance, but i ahve pain 24 hours a day 7 days a week no lie i have no life i dont like to even go to my kids school activitys cause the pain is always there its hard to tell my family what our how iam filling so they will understand i hardley do anything because its so uncomforable, my life sucks right now i wake up cring go to bed the same if anyone has any answers please let me now nikkiee7

Hi everyone on this subject,
My daughter has had the same symptoms for tyhe last 15 months, eventually being admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis, released a week later and then finally re-admitted 3 months later, operated on via laparoscopy, only to find inflammed appendix, fluid on the pelvis etc etc and blocked tubes.
She came out of hospital on 3 lots of antibiotics, after finishing the course felt fine. We thought brilliant, over and done with. She went out and enjoyed herself, at 18 so you should.
4 weeks since the operation and the symptoms have returned, bloated, sick, pains etc etc.
Could this be related to the pill she is on, Celeste......................
Has anybody found the cure to the problem you ladies seem to be having.

Fluid on pelvis!! hello please someone help! i have had an internal scan 2 weeks ago found nothing wrong,only a grey area doctor said it might be a cyst,but still have terrible pains on both sides of my groin also after having sex the day after,doctor had sent scan to gyno doctors for them to check out waiting till friday,they have put me on pain killers.

I recently had a colonoscopy and he was unable to complete it do to some kind of blockage. The next day at work, in the afternoon after eating, I doubled over in pain on my lower right side. I called and he sent me to the ER for a CT Scan. They did the scan and only thing they found was this fluid in the pelvic area. I have had a partial hysterectomy years ago so my thinking is there shouldnt be anything down there. A few months back though, they did a bunch of test on me and discoverd a right ovarian cyst. They then did a blood test to determine ( I thought) the severity of it. I heard nothing back. Part of me wonders if this was the blockage the doctor hit and if so, did he cause it to maybe burst? I have alot of abdominal tenderness and bloating. If I eat or drink, I feel like my tummy is going to just burst. It is very uncomfortable and I hate this wondering and not knowing what is going on inside my body....If any of you have found out what this Pelvic fluid is, please let me know...Thanks, Valorie

Wow...I was recently told that I had fluid in my pelvis too. I have pain on my left side on & off. I also had a partial hysterectomy. I was told in the past that I had IBS...so I thought it was a bowel issue. The pain is nagging and I am so tired of complaining about the same thing. The Dr.s don't seem to understand. I have had cyst removed from both ovaries and also had pain from those cyst bursting. I also have low energy and is always tired.

I have had the exact same thing for the last 2 years, the first time it happened i collapsed in agonising pain at work, i was rushed to A&E, first they suspected appendisitus, then ectopic pregnancy, then a ruptured cyst, as with a lot of you I was sent home with just pain killers, I wasn't even given a scan. The pains reoccured a few time over the following 12 months, then I collapsed again and I was rushed to another hospital, here I received an internal examination and an ultrasound, all they found was fluid on my pelvis, I wasnt given any explaination to what could of caused this. Since then I have had another 2 ultrasound scans and visited my doctor numerous times, i was told that it was the pill i was on that was causing my egg not to release properly, then another doctor told me that this was wrong as this pill tricks my ovaries into thinking it has already released an egg so that it doesnt actually release one, so the next theory was that it wasnt stopping my ovaries releasing the eggs. It has now been 2 years and I still do not have any idea why this pain occurs.

I have fluid in my abdomen as well. I was told recently that the fluid is left over from past surgeries ive had. I have had 12 surgeries in the past and with being cut open so many times the pain I have on the left side of my pelvis is from scar tissue. Ive had this pain for the past 8 years or so and I believe that the pain is caused by the scar tissue pressing on the nerves. The pain is so excruciating that it makes my left leg go numb. I just recently found out what the pain is and the fluid in my pelvis as well. I was told like you all that i had cysts on my ovaries that burst and yada yada yada. some of you have mentioned past surgeries which is why i hope you find this helpful. Your pain too may be caused by scar tissue. It only takes one surgery to cause built up scar tissue, and the fluid from past surgeries can linger in the body cavity for years. But from what i understand, the fluid does not cause pain. I hope this is of some help.

Well I guess I will add my post after reading all of yours. On September 10th I finally went to my private doctor because the pain in my right abdomen was so painful, my body trembled. I was nausea. He told me that i constipated, and sent me home with Metamucil, Ducolax, and 6 prunes a day.By Sept.13, I was in the emergency room. Wher they did ultrasounds, CT scans, blood work. It was blood in my urine and I have a large cyst structure on Which appears to project from the right ovary with thin walls and some internal echo. The structure measures 7.3x6.4x8.8 cm and on the adjacent ovary which is my right ovary meaqsures 2.8 x 2.6 x 3.1 cm with smaller normal follicles in it. But my left ovary measures 4.5 x 2.6 x 3.8 cm and contains a septated cyst that largely replaces the parenchyma. I am finally after a month and a half of dealing my insurance two doctors and an emergency room will go to a specialist. I have been on pain killers with codeine for a long time. My life is non-existent at this time. Can anyone tell me what is this besides cysts.

I am going through the same thing.
In Januray, I went to the Emergency room with a pain on the lower right side of my abdomin. The pain was dull and constant and with an occasional extremely painful sharp darting pain on either my left or right lower abdomin. My appendix was taken out the next morning. The pain wasn't as bad but i thought the pain I had was due to surgery. In mid March the pain became very very painful once more and i returned to the emergency room. They then told me that when they took out my appendix that it was normal. I was very angry that they had not done any further investigations at the time. One ultra sound, an OGD, colonoscpy and CAT scan later, they told me I was imagining the pain and sent me home, with advice on seeking counselling. At the end of August, the pains once more began to be beyond agonising. I was throwing up all day, passing out and barely able to move. I wasnt exactly keen on going back to the hospital incase they told me it was in my head. I eventually gave into the pain and went to the A and E again. I was put on a morphine drip and was admitted for 5 days. A baruim test showed that my bowel was slightly inflammed and that there was free fluid in the pelvis. They put me on a low dose of dothiepan(75mg)to act as a neurotransmitter blocker rather that an antidepressant to stop the sharp agonsing pains. Its amazing but i still have the constant pain in the right hand side of my adomin. I ended up getting very frustrated with the pain and sought a secong opinion. My new doctor couldn't believe how i had been treated. She and her team had a case conference about me and im going back to her next week. She thinks i may have severe endometriosis and ovarian disease. my periods were always irregular and heavy and for that reason i went on the pill. she said that the fluid in my pelvis may have been the result of a ruptured cycst on my ovary. my sister ahd a cycst the size of a full term baby.thats why every time i went into hospital, the cycsts had already ruptured and thats why scans never found anything. Im at the stage where i dont care what the doctors tell me i have!! i just want it sorted once and for all!!!! did i mention im only 19?

Wow, I had no idea that so many of you are going through this kind of pain, as I am. Last July, I had a sigmoid colon resection. Pretty much ever since then, I have experienced pelvic pain. Ultrasounds have shown that I have an encapsulated area of fluid in the pelvis, and everything else looks fine. Finally, when the pain was constant and almost unbearable (about 3 weeks ago), I was put on Cipro for 2 weeks. I was finally pain free, but now that I am not taking the antibiotic, the pain is returning. Can anybody offer some insight? Thanks!

I am a 34 year old woman, three children, history of endrometriosis. 3 years ago I had a partial hysterectomy and only have 1 ovary remaining. I have had some abdominal pain and assumed it was kidney or GI. I have had endoscopy and colonoscopy, found nothing related. I went for CT scan. They found fluid in my lower pelvic area. I have to go for ultrasound. I'm wondering what it is. I see many saying they have this, but all seem to still have a uteris and overaries. Anyone in the same position I am? I have to wait till Thursday for ultrasound. I just want an idea of what's up. I thought I took care of my issues when I had the hysterectomy.

My ultrasound found grapefruit size mass of fluid. I also have cyst on my remaining ovary. I went for CA-125 test and will be going back to schedule surgery. Question of cancer hangs heavily over me right now. I'm trying to be optimistic but either way I'm 34 headed for menapause.

Everyone here ... go to your OB/GYN and have your doctor test your CA125. Look at your family history. I don't want to scare anyone, I just want you all to be careful and be informed. I was diagnosed Dec 2008 with Ovarian Cancer. I had surgery and chemo through April 2009; and now its back. I start chemo next month. I am 48 years old. Don't take no for an answer and ask questions. If your doctor doesn't have an answer, find another one. I wish I had. I went back'n'forth for over 6 months before I ended up in the ER and even they those docs couldn't figure it out. So I found one that could. You are your own advocate. It is your body and your life. Know your history, get your CA125 tested and don't ever give up or give in.
