Someone close to me has been having migraines for a long while now, the pain can last a whole day, and sometimes she gets dizzy and even passes out. She finally managed to go get herself checked out, and after some scans, they found a bit of swelling in her brain, and for a while we thought it could be pituitary tumor, but in the end the doctor just recommended her some drugs and that was the end of it.

Obviously I was not pleased with this outcome. She still has migraines and passed out again today. Here's a link for a photo of her scan incase anyone reading is a brain surgeon Wink

she's tried every migraine drug out there and either they havent worked or give her bad side effects. I've told her to go back to docs and get checked out again, try another opinion or something in the mean time.

So basically, I would like to know what you think she should do now? I mean she cant live with this pain and passing out, its dangerous. Most drugs dont help, and what she's told me (she's in the usa, i'm not) of her time with the doctor made me angry and frustated. I mean, she's passing out, constant migraines, got swelling in her brain, and the doc doesnt offer any surgery or treatment, just drugs!

Let me know what you think, thanks.

Edit: uh, ok, I cant seem to be able to see the photo via the link here even though the link works from everywhere else, weird forum, heh.

I am not a doctor, but it sounds like she really needs a new doctor. Any doc who diagnoses brain swelling and does not do more than a few meds is not doing enough....

I hope your friend goes to a neuro or a new one and gets help. She needs to bring her scan and show them to him....

Hope she gets help.
