How can I get brooklyn to know when its daytime and when its night? Shes up for like 3 hours at night (usually midnight until 3) and if shes not up, shes nursing every 1-2 hours. She sleeps all day, but shes got an awake time around 11am-1pm and then sleeps the rest of the day and nurses every 3-4 hours.

Lol thats funny that u mention that. I swear all babies have this or something, mackenzie was the same exact way until about last week. Now shes finally got her days and nights figured out. And stays awake all day long and finally goes to bed at like 8 or 9 til bout 5am then sleeps after eating til bout 10:30. It feels good to sleep once they got their days and nights figured out.

Here's a tip that I was given by my baby nurse.....
To help your bub get the idea of day and night
1: dress your baby in day and night clothes...... Make the night clothes simmilar every day.....Ie only streach suits for bed, never on in the day....

2: have a bed time routine, bath, breast and bed,

3: never put your baby in a darkend room to sleep of a day, let them sleep in day light, that way their day sleeps are shorter and darkness starts to be a que for longer sleeps at night

4: on the same hand keep night time lighting to a mimimum.

5: try putting your baby ( depending on age) to bed a little later, if you give a feed at 7 your bub will get hungry again in the small hours of the morning, but if you feed ( top up ) at 10 pm he should get through till atleast 5 am.

6: if bub wakes during the night try to settle without the breast, some times they wake for "comfort feeds" and this is a very easy habbit to form but hard to break

7: if bub is over 4 months start controlled crying...... To try to teach self settaling.......
Let bub cry for 5 minutes b4 you go to him, then only go in to re position and calm, walk out, remember to keep lighting to a miminum, repete untill bub is asleep.....

I dont know if any of that will help...... But thats what I done and it worked with my girls..... Good luck

For a while it will just be like that, but if you play with her during the day when she tries to sleep and by doing so eliminate some naps, she should sleep at night.

It will be like that for a little while. Then she'll get the hang of it.
