Health staff,

i've had two hernia surgeries over the past two years and i'm about ready for number 3. My surgeon believes there maybe excessive scar tissue constricting nerves or vein on my rightside of the groin..

The pain is the same as the last two inquinal surgeries..Sharp, sore, aches to stand too long, walk, bend, twist..Hurts to have bowel movement, (non-constipated) to urinate or have partial erections..

What could be going on? I can't work or anything.. I've had two series of cortisone shots for inflammation..My surgeon says there could be another tear around the mesh screen or possibly excessive scar tissue constricting nreves or vein..I have pain in my lower right abdomen as well.

Could this be happening a third time in two years? And what is causing this?

Thankyou for any advice, i'm in pain and would like to be better informed for my surgeon's sake.

Possibly
I have done research on hernias, cuase I myself may have one. I have read that hernias can reoccur in the same spot becuase scar tissue can become reopen again and the intestine falls back through the weakened stomach/groin (where ever it may be). I have read about the mesh ( I dont know how common it is in practice, most I beleive use stitching which has a higher occurance of happening again). The mesh from what I understand is supposed to be a one time thing. It was designed to make it safer and easier on the patient and to reduce the number or possibility of reoccurance. Mesh is also supposed to be more comfortable for the patient but I havent read anything on mesh haveing problems like stitching does. If nothing else try another doctors opinion, maybe your first doctor just put the mesh in wrong or didnt secure it properly into place. I am not saying that you need a new doctor but mesh is a pretty new procedure and is not as widley used as the old brutal stiching method. I wil note that mesh is supposed to be safe for all people, even elderly who are otherwise unable to have hernia repair due to the faster healing process and less pain after operation. Also the mesh is supposed to be strong enough to withstand pressure and force. It is possible however that scar tissue has seperated if the mesh was not covering the entire incision area. Hope this helped though it is just my opinion.
