Both me and my half- brother are epileptics on keppra. We only have the seizures when we're sleeping; and he has them far for frequently then I do. Hes only 3 yrs old, but i'm 18 and had my first seizure (that I know of) about a year and a half ago.
What's interesting is that we both have 'cafe au lait' birthmarks (a slight, discoloration on the skin thats hardly noticable). Whats even more interesting is that there in the same spot. Recentlly ive noticed that mine got larger. I've heard there is a correlation between seizures and birthmarks like mine.If anyone has any info, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

If you look up information on neurofibromatosis you will find that there is a correlation with that and seizures sometimes. Usually it is a high number of cafe spots that doctors are concerned about....

My son has epilepsy and has a cafe spot, his cousin has one in the same place and does not have epilepsy...Neither have nf...

Tuberous sclerosis also can have cafe spots, but it is several other skin things as well.

Have you and your half brother gone to a genetics doc to see if it is related?
