Just wondering if anyone could help me out.
I went through recovery for anorexia two years ago, and ever since I was anorexic I haven't felt the same. I have frequent dizziness, random days of extreme fatigue, headaches, shakiness, blurry vision, etc, etc.
I have seen 4 different doctors, with no real luck.
While I was starving, my bp averaged 90/60, and my resting pulse was usually between 40 and 50, although once it was measured at 29. I had a few ekgs over the period of a few months, and all showed sinus bradycardia, once showed sinus dysrhythmia, and one was interpreted to mean that I had hypokalemia. I was actually admitted to a treatment program and told that i'd need medical monitoring, but my insurance refused to pay. I ended up recovering completely on my own, without treatment. Fast forward to today:
my bp these days is usually between 135/95 and 160/110. Occasionally, I get a normal reading, but even then it's often orthostatic. My resting heart rate rarely goes below 80 now, and it's been up to 138.
So far, the only thing any of the doctors have decided on is that I have borderline hyperthyroidism- as in it is on the exact border between normal and high. I've been told that there's nothing to really do to treat that, since it's still borderline normal.
I was referred to an endocrinologist to rule out hormonal abnormalities, and she flat-out accused me of lying about having hbp, even though she measured it for herself! (she attributed it to me being 'frustrated' with her). Other doctors have done many, many tests, with no real solution. Some have told me to 'stop eating all those cheeseburgers' even though my diet is pretty healthy. Others have told me to try anti-depressants. I got so sick of hearing it that I actually saw a psychiatrist, who confirmed that I did not need anti-depressants, and he was very concerned about my bp.
I don't know if it's a heart issue, or a fluid balance issue, or a thyroid issue, or whatever. I guess i'm concerned because I remember having chest pains while I was starving, and during that time my chest also had a big, purplish circle (kind of like a light bruise) over my heart. Don't know if it was anything, but it didn't look good.
Either way, it's affecting my life. I'm only 26 years old, and I feel like I have the energy of a 70-yr old. I'm still exercising on my 'good' days, but some days I just can't keep it up.
Anybody have any ideas? Anybody? Help!
