I'm a 28 year old female who has acne on my chin. I have been on ortho trycyclene for 5 years, i'm finally fed up and got switched to alesse. I have been told to skip the period pills. I only break out on my chin, I will get a big on that is under the skin and never comes to head. Should I be skipping my period all the time? Is this brand of pill going to change my horemones for the better? Can they test your hormone levels to see if your out of wack?

i also found this on another site:
will the pill make my acne better?
Birth control pills usually improve acne. For moderate to severe acne, which over-the-counter and prescription medications can't cure, birth control pills may be prescribed. The hormones in the birth control pill can help stop acne from forming. It doesn't usually matter which type of birth control pills you take, since most of them can be use to treat acne. You must be patient though, since it takes several months for the birth control pills to work.

You should try diane 35. I went on it for about a year and my acne cleared right up almost instantly. I didn't have severe acne but wanted to try it to see if it would help and it did! The only thing is I have heard that prolonged use of this pill can sometimes force your body to break out even worse once you do decide to go off diane 35 (which is why I switched). I inquired about this to my doctor and she said she has never heard that before but if I wanted to change she would do it for me. I kind of just changed just in case but she said there was nothing to worry about. All in all, it was a great pill, cleared me right up! :d
