Q: Strange, Unknown Problem With Lower Intestinal Track

It's the weekend, and I can't afford emergency room prices, otherwise I would go. This started out very strangely - I felt a lump inside my vagina, it was very hard and round. I called and made an appointment with my ob/gyn and they scheduled me for monday. The lump changed sizes over the course of 24 hours, and after I had a bowel movement, the obstruction was so huge I could not get my finger anymore than an inch inside my vagina. My next bowel movement included a lot of blood, and a small amount of tissue, and the large obstruction was gone. I still have a lump inside my vagina, but it remains small and variable.

Obviously I have to cancel my ob/gyn appointment and go to a different kind of doctor, but what kind? Does anyone know whether this is serious enough to justify a midnight trip to the emergency ward? - at emergency ward rates? I'm in no pain whatsoever. As long as I remain pain free, I am going to call around on monday to find out the correct kind of doctor to be examined by.

If anyone has any kind of clue what this is, please let me know. I'm kind of freaked out by feeling poop through my vaginal wall.

I would call a gastroenterologist if you do not need a referral from a doctor. I would say if you are not continuing to bleed.. Then you are probably ok to wait until monday. If you start bleeding again or feel sick.. Then I would get to the er. As for what it is, i'm not sure. It maybe could have been a polyp or something that came loose, but they will probably want to do some tests to make sure you don't have anything else or that it won't happen again. Good luck

Sounds like a fistula between your rectum and vagina. Please let us know how you are doing. Kathy
