Please Help Me Help My New Love Posted: 09-10-04 09:43am
Hi I am new to the leukemia world and have
allot of questions
i recently just met this wonderful women
and she has been dealing with leukemia for
years she is 23 and has been in remission
for a while
she has had one relapse in the past
recently she has been doing clinical
trials and she took some bad meds and went
into a relapse again
the docs stated that they can stop it at
stage one she will be ok
this is where my concern is she is
constantly vomiting from the meds she is
taking and because of the extreme amount
she passes out in the bathroom.
I do love her and I would never think of
leaving her because she is sick but I
don’t know how to handle this.
I am nervous that she will be alone
somewhere and get sick in the bathroom and
pass out with no one around. Worse she
can hit her head on something.
Currently she is going to college so there
are girls always with her but I know that
she will have times when she is alone
is there any advice for this newcomer so I
can prevent this new love of mine from
getting hurt..
Please any advice is appreciated I know
nothing of this illness
thanks in advance

An Answer.... Posted: 09-16-04 10:07am
Hello, I don't know your name !
Leukemia"s world is a really tough world,
isn't it ?
Maybe i'm not the best person to post a
reply, but I want to answer because I know
how it is to put a question, receiving no
answer. If you have time, you can read
the message posted before yours and you
will find out more about my experience as
regards leukemia. Sinceerly, this forum
is not the place where you can find an
answer. In fact, I didn't receive any
answer. As you already probably know,
the transplant of marrow is the sollution
for leukemia, but it's quite expansive and
it's not so sure. Yesterday, I was just
talking with someone about this. For poor
coutries, as romania is, the transplant is
like an imposible dream. I have a little
friend with leukemia. He is supposed to
die soon, probably. I don't know whether
you believe in god or not, and I don't
want to upset you with a "religious"
answer, but I do believe god is the best
doctor of all. So, "talk with him" about
this !!! I am sure you will receive an
answer ! Go on!

god
frankie, it took me 8 times to try to get
a response thru here..But here it is. I
am kathleen, age 54, and I have leukemia.
I am on the "inside of the disease".
You are on the outside of the disease, as
is my family and friends. Educate
yourself about leukemia and that will help
some. But you will have to deal with
anxiety. Detach means you feel the
anxiety but you do not let it
obsess/control you. It's tough loving
someone with cancer and you will need to
learn how to stop the worry thoughts.
Otherwise, you'll just be freaked all the
time. Good luck.
