If I fail the long test it means I have gestational diabetes.

How it affects the mother:
increased risk of high blood pressure
increased risk of gd in future pregnancies
increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life

how it affects the baby:
makes the baby larger
possible overweight after birth
risk of diabetes later in life
low blood calcium levels at birth
jaundice

treatment:
controlled diet
exercise
monitor glucose levels
monitor fetal growth
regular medical checkups
possible insulin

Did you accidently eat some sugar or carbs or anything? My doc told me no sugar, low carbs, for all day before the appointment. I hope everything turns out ok!

They didn't tell me to be careful about what I ate the day before, but here's what I had:

hi-protein cereal with milk for breakfast
lo-fat balogne and lo-fat cheese on white for lunch
mexican for supper.

The nurse asked me what I ate, and didn't say that any of that could have made a difference... I sure hope it did though!

Lol I should have used better words, I didnt mean the day before the appointment, I meant the day of the appointment, all day before you go in. If you ate something with sugar, or anything with lots of carbs then thats probably why it came back high. My doc told me I should eat an egg for breakfast before I came in otherwise if it was something with carbs or sugar it would come back wrong. I think the only thing he said I could drink before was water also... But im dont remember, it was awhile ago.
