Doctors can make mistakes. That is not maddison's fault, and neither was her miscarriage.

Everyone congratulated her back then. Nobody thought it was weird. Its not until now that you think its weird, and the only reason you think its weird is because she had a miscarriage. So did joyce. Nobody accused her of being fake. Maddison is going through something really tough right now. She's sitting at home crying her eyes out because her daughter is dead and all we can do here is say "she's a big fat faker?"

No me and nikki discussed this right when she became part of the forum. We both knew then...U cant "miscarry" at 36 weeks, u have to go into labor or something, right?

O well, not my deal, but im like 101% sure she is

no, unfortunately, you don't. One of mike's coworkers just recently experienced this. She was about 36 weeks pregnant when her baby dropped. They didn't know the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck, and the baby asphixiated after dropping. No labor necessary. Same thing goes for car wrecks, abusive spouses, toxoplasmosis, preeclampsia, smokers, drinkers, and a whole heap of other things that can cause miscarriage.

In fact, i'd be willing to bet my life on the fact that most third trimester miscarriages occur with no signs of labor.

Well you can lose the baby at any point, but the horrible part of losing the baby this late in pregnancy is that most of the time they have to "induce labor" for you to give birth to the baby. Its a horrible thing for anyone to go through!

When I went to my first doctor appt, I thought I was around 13 weeks, the doc said I was only around 6... So thats being bumped back 7 weeks, and then I went back at my next appt, and got a suprise u/s and he told me I was 15 weeks, when I thought I was 10 (from what he told me from the previous appt.)... So I got bumped back 7 weeks, and then bumped up 5 weeks. Doctors can be wrong all the time. My doc told me the baby was small and I needed an u/s to make sure she was ok... Well she ended up being on the bigger side of average(weighing more, but still on average weight).

Yeah but see I can understand that at the beginning of a pregnancy, how your due date can change, cuz mine did. But when you think your 20 something weeks then all of a sudden your 34 weeks? Thats a bit odd for me. I mean can doctors really be that bad? I think they would have noticed when they mesaured her.

And not many babies get miscarried at 36 weeks. I mean angie had her baby at 36 weeks! You would notice when you have to watch for the fetal movement, when it slows down you call the doc! I dont even think its possible to miscarry at 36 weeks when the baby is ready to come out. I just felt really fishy about her. And weve had these fakes many times before. Me, chanda and jordan know this. How did the baby pass? And I noticed this girl sent the message to chanda, megan was also very close to chanda. Nothing against chanda but megan has pulled this one wayyy to many times. Knowing so much then turning up fake! And its easy to get to a new comp with a new ip.

that is what I was thinking niki, I know that after 20 weeks and even 36 weeks if the baby is dead before delivery it is a stillbirth. I was thinking that some got it mixed up with a miscarriage.

A still birth is a baby that goes through natural labor and comes out dead. Not a baby who they find out its dead before labor ever starts. That's a miscarriage, no matter how far along you are. And it didn't go from 20 to 34, it went from 24 to 31. As far as we know, that could have been her first appointment. Not likely, but possible.

linux that is not true hunnie.

A stillbirth is when a fetus dies during birth (that is commom), but also when the fetus dies during the late stages of pregnancy when it would have been otherwise expected to survive.

I don't know where u get your information from.

I know there are variation from country to country but all the info I can find points to:
* a miscarriage is loss of a baby before 24 weeks
* a still birth is any baby born (vaginal/surgical) dead after 24 weeks
* a pre-mature baby is any baby born alive before 36 weeks
* a term baby is any baby born alive after 36 weeks

so if the young lady in question was past 24 weeks, she suffered a still birth, not a miscarriage.

Either of these is just as devastating as the other.

A still birth does not have to be a baby that died during birth.

If it died during birth, that would have otherwise been a live birth, then the birth still has to be registered.

kia, I appreciate your help. I myself learned up to 20 weeks. Then again when I came here and was posting it. I have come to realize it is not widely known. But it's the facts people.

Damn kia!!

I'm sitting here scouring webmd trying to prove you wrong, but you're right! Its commonly called a miscarriage up to 40 weeks, but its really only technically classified a miscarriage if its 20 weeks or before! Sorry!

I think its one of those "technical" things...Some people call it one thing but others call it another! Thats why I am not saying anything! Haha at least you can say you are wrong erin and not be stubborn like some people! Anyways...You are all technically right, so lets move on!

I dont think it really matters what the technical name for it is. Fact is the poor girl lost her baby, which happens all the time in late pregnancy. And if she comes on here and sees all of this she is gonna be in more pain then she already is.

Her story checks out, the doctor could have easily been wrong. That was probably her first ultrasound and they were only going by her missed period. Which means theres a good chance she didnt skip the first one or even the second one. So therfore the doctors would be off by a good number of weeks because all they had to go by was the date she told them she missed her period.

She'll get on here and talk to us when she's ready, she's in a lot of pain right now. Give her some time, she'll come around.
