Q: Keeping Baby, Selfish?

I dont understand how people can think teen moms who keep their babies are selfish?? Money shouldnt be too big of a concern with all the programs out there. Theres programs to help people pay their rent. They love their baby, and have a deeper bond with it then anyone else could. They would rather make the pregnant mother die of heartbreak and always regret this decision?? Idk, but does anyone feel this way (that it would be selfish)?

(by the way, I deff give credit to people who did put their babies up for adoption, and felt that was the best option. Im just talking about people who want to keep their babies but other people try to force them to give it up)

I totally agree with you, I know for one thing I could never do that and I dont think its selfish as long as you can provide for the baby. So I agree, some people dont know what they're talking about.

There are so many people out there that cant provide for their children and they arent teens, all these people think of them is "oh poor them, they are struggling"... Not "get rid of your kid". Just because you are a teen does not mean that you are unable to care for a child. Yes, there are teens out there that arent, but there are also young adults, adults, and older adults that struggle with caring for children too. What really makes me mad is when people say something about the "situation" your in, and you should be thankful for things that are givin to you. Well of course im gonna be thankful for things that are givin to me, but thats common curtisy. It doesnt have anything to do with the "situation" im in. Im not in any situation just because im 17. I can provide for my child, no differently than anyone else. I just dont have loads of money like others. Not many people do have loads of money, and alot of americans are living pay check to pay check, not just me! Grr! This subject always gets me going. Now im pissed and its early in the morning. How in the world am I gonna fall asleep for my nap?

Yea people like that piss me off. My boyfriends friends mother is like a mother to my boyfriend because his moms not around and she tried talking sh*t to me one day when she found out I was pregnant. Telling me that I should get an abortion because she had one when she was married but didnt have her house. (she told me that I should have got a abortion a couple of months before also when I was in my hospital bed having a miscarriage) I told her I know we don't have alot of money but if I really needed money I could get help from different programs and shes like oh I knew a guy that owned a program that helped teen mothers but its not around anymore because less teens are getting pregnant. Then she says in a snotty voice "it's ashame u never had any good rolemodels in your life" and the woman barely knows me. Rolling Eyes now my boyfriend wants me to go over there and show her sonograms of my baby ..I dont want her to see any sonograms or even the baby shes a b*tch !

Hey,
i agree totally!~ it is a totally self~less act to keep your child! That is your child! You have a right to keep that baby if you can provide and nurture that child! It's not selfish at all!

Dumba$$es!! It is _never_ selfish to save a life!! Its better for a kid to grow up poor than never to get the chance to grow up.

Well it wasnt about abortion it was about adoption. So the kid would still grow up just with other people.

Well I still think its not selfish. How is it selfish to provide for your child? How can anybody say its selfish to provide a child with a chance to know his or her mother? Adoption can be a great alternative in some situations, but how many adopted children wish they knew their real parents? I bet all do at some point.

Seriously! Its deff selfless! Youre giving up your life for that child, all your thoughts are geared towards his or her life. You love that little person more then anything. Would do anything for them.

I dont understand how dedicating your life to somthing/ someone you love could be selfish?!?!

I completely agree! People act as if teen mothers are ruining their childs life by keeping it. In my opinion, #1 they chose to let their child experience life, #2 the mother has to make huge sacrifices for this baby, & #3 I know quite a few teen mothers who do a better job @ parenting then my parents ever did. The list could go on forever. It makes me sick the way that society judges teens who choose to be there for their baby!
